Regina - The City That Rhymes With Fun

I have finally found a city that has worse snow removal and more potholes in the road than Calgary. Regina!! Edmonton is pretty brutal too. But I guess what I'm asking is which city has the worst roads, snow removal or in the worst shape.

My Worst 3:

1.) Regina - Potholes everywhere, snow removal is non-existant, just poor.

2.) Saskatoon - Same as Regina just not quite as bad.

3.) Montreal - Some of those overpasses look like they are going to fall down. I hope we don't see a Minneapolis bridge situation there.

Yes I do vaguely remember this now. I am not surprised, those are in rough shape, the ones closer to the core all have massive cracks in them. There is going to be a severe infrastructure problem in the next 10-25 years I'm betting.

Wait till the frost starts to come out of the ground in spring, jolly driving then)))

Edmonton's not too bad with the snow removal, at least where I have to go every day. I live in St. Albert(a suburb of Edmonton), which is especially awesome at clearing snow. Potholes however, are a different story. St. Albert's great but Edmonton's got some BRUTAL roads right now. Drive down St. Albert Trail, Stony Plain or 170th St in the summer and you think your tranny's gonna rip right out of the car. Its funny because if you drive into St. Albert on Campbell Rd(off of St. Albert Tr), the road seriously goes from garbage to awesome the second you hit the "Welcome to St. Albert" sign.

One guy called into Sonic 102.9 a couple months back and suggested they change the slogan on the Welcome to Edmonton sign from "City of Champions" to "Sorry about the roads".

The city of Regina has a complete disregard for lanes, it's just a free for all. First of all there is ice everywhere, and where the road is bare there are no lines painted anyways. It's really horrendus, the only nice thing is there are no real dangers when it comes to driving off the road aside from the usual, but you'll never roll down a cliff or anything. Is there a single hill in that town.

You mustve lived on the South Side. Snow removal absolutely, those salt trucks are all over it the second the snow falls. But as for roads, not where I go. Stony Plain, St. Albert Tr and especially 170th on the North end are disastrous. Whenever I drive down to the South end I feel like I'm in a different city.

North Edmonton in general is a complete disaster. Yellowhead Tr. is a complete joke, and there is absolutely nothing in North Edmonton that even resembles anything asthetically pleasing, just a very ugly depressing place. South end is way nicer, and St. Albert is beautiful.

Lethbridge, where the moto is "let the Chinook take care of it" seriously 1 big dump of snow and the snow removal budget is blown. Anybody that has ever been over in the industrial area , north side or south side will know that they're not the easiest of roads on the ol' shocks

Welcome to Cape Breton, most scenic place on the planet, and worst potholes imaginable. The roads here are horrid.

You guys need a new sign. St. Albert: Photo Radar capital of the world. I can't believe how many there are. One time i saw 3 radars within 6-7 blocks of each other. That is like 3 tickets if you aren't paying attention.

I don't think those in transportation at City Hall in Regina know the meaning of "merge lane".

Example, driving south on highway #6, taking the ring road west.

Which is what we have to do to get back to the airport after visiting parents living north of Regina.

"Once" we are on the ringroad heading west, maybe I should say "if" we get to stay on the ringroad heading west, we have to go south at the next exit. But there is no merge lane onto the ringroad heading west. It is just a lane that if you do not exit from, you end up going north at the intersection. But that is the intersection we want to head south((

It is soooooooo much fun having to go across every lane heading west in order to turn south(( especially in winter when as you said in your post, it is a free for all with no lane markers.

Haha for the record, please don't refer to Edmonton/St. Albert to me as "you guys". I'm born n raised in Calgary, I'm only up here at the UofA getting my degree. As for radars, dude, you have NO idea! Had my license in Calgary for about five years, and had 1 speeding ticket in that time. Was out in BC for 1.5 years, and had none. Move out to Edmonton for 3 years and Ive got 5. 2 in Edmonton, 3 in St. Albert. And I also got a $120 seatbelt ticket in St. Albert this past August.

I got a photo radar ticket going down Sir Winston Churchill Dr(around all the schools) for going 58 in a 50 at 9:30 at night on a Wednesday. Why the hell was a photo radar dude parked in a school parking lot on a damn Wednesday night??? Seriously they need to dedicate a new wing to me at the St. Albert Municipal Courthouse, I've probably got them funded for the next 10 years.

It took 2.5 years, but after my last ticket I can safely say St. Albert/Edmonton has finally broken my spirit. I now drive exactly 50km/h in a 50 everywhere, sometimes even less. You win St. Albert, you greedy S.O.B.!!

Yah its so clean and safe(I chalk that up to the ridiculous amount of police we have for such a small city, thanks to extremely high taxes. But Im not complaining, I'll pay an extra few bucks for that kind of serenity). Actually this city makes me laugh, it reminds me of the neighbourhood in Edward Scissorhands, when everyone's lawns are perfect, the houses are in perfect shape, streets are clean, etc, and everyone leaves for work at the exact same time and mows their lawn at the exact same time. It's almost eerily perfect in St. Albert.

Well St. Albert isn't really Edmonton. I let them off the hook cuz Iggy is from there and my cousin knows him. hehe.

hmmm I've only gotten one speeding ticket/multinova ever in 15 years of driving and that was in St. Albert. I was late for a function at Grant Macewan. Told my wife to watch out for the radars. Saw 2 of them and slowed down in time but a 3rd one nailed me. $255!!! This was at 730am in the morning. Ugh.

Made it there in 12 minutes though. hehe.

Edmonton has it rough since they put Whitemud Drive paving up for bid...and no one put one in. Yet Calgary was able to have a contractor resurface Deerfoot. Go figure. Must be only one paving company around i guess.
