Raises some interesting questions.

Even if one assumes that his role in the show did not play a factor in his decision to kill himself, how should the show producers handle it?

Should they simply proceed as planned?

Deal with it as a post-script when he is eliminated from the show?

Edit him out of the show altogether?

I heard that they made it a part of the show to show the 'reality' of the sport and the pressure it entails.

Expect the suicide to be a part of the show.

I'm surprised that there have not been any suicides because of American Idol. For many of those people, singing is their dream. One of these days someone is gonna kill themselves after one of Simons harsh tirades.

I think it has to do with the fact that most of the people that would be in the frame of mind to kill themselves also believe that the judges were wrong and therefore don't take it as bad as those that are rejected but not so unbalanced as to kill themselves over it and therefore realise the reality that they suck.
