If this is true, I really hope this is not the way he found out!! Too bad!
Bruins traded Hobbs to PG for a pick in the bantam draft.
This is what I know today...2PM Pacific can NOT come quick enough!!
Cheers!!

I've read a couple of different sites that the Hitmen may have moved Fiddler and Fox to PA. I don't buy the rumor but who knows...most deals don't get announced until later on in the afternoon.

If so, I'm guessing Kisio is finally going for broke. Interesting to see what does finally shake out.
Frere being traded for a pick is interesting. I would have figured Kisio would have learned from 04-05 when the Hitmen ran out of defencemen in the playoffs. Guessing that is a sign of something to come, as the only reason to make that trade is to open a roster spot.

Chilliwack also traded Matt McCue to Brandon.
Other deals:
Brennan Sonne goes from Red Deer to Edmonton.
Phil Gervais goes from Vancouver to Portland.
Swift Current gets Jesse Dudas from Prince George for their backup goalie. They then grabbed Portland's backup G (Guggenberger) for a pick.
EDIT: guess some of the bigger names (Santorelli, Figren, Hamill, Irving) didn't get moved after all...

No move for Sutter or Reimer either. I've heard that there were a number of offers for Reimer, including a pretty good one too, but it still wasn't enough for the Rebels to want to bite. My how things have changed. The Rebels were actively shopping Reimer for over a month before he went down with an injury. Then he returns and is playing superbly well and now they want to keep him. Interesting, and head scratching, times in Red Deer.
Sonne being traded is another puzzler. This player has demonstrated very positive attributes since arriving here but is moved for a very low pick. In fact Sonne was one of the few players showing much jump during the last while. Since he's a 20 could he have been moved for a different reason? i.e. Any chance of Brett Sutter still coming back?

I've been watching him and his brother Brett with interest the last few years (my mom works with their dad), and I was kinda surprised as well to see this move, especially to Edmonton. I watched the game last night and thought he looked decent and chippy, as evidenced by his willingness to go after Flatters after the check from behind. He had an AWESOME scrap with Garet Hunt of the Giants (they grew up together and apparently hate each other) when Brennan was with Everett earlier this year.
Don't know if you watched the Sportsnet broadcast, but they had Brandon Sutter on for about ten mins during the second period, and he didn't mention anything about Brett at all, just that his brother helps the Rebels with video and stuff.
EDIT: as for Reimer, I read that a deal with Brandon was close to being done but fell through.

I thought I read an article somewhere that the Rebels are expecting Reimer to return to the team next year.

Yes they are. However, they tried everything in their power to move him earlier on and then did an about turn. Reimer's a good goalie. If he could just stop letting in the one weak goal every game then he'd be an elite goalie.

Heh. That's rather the point. I'd rather not face him in the playoffs.
Speculation out of Toronto is that former Hitman Justin Pogge will be recalled soon as JFJ's last gasp hope of saving the season, and his job.

Watched the Rebels/Warriors game instead of the Flames tonight. Reimer was outstanding! 46 saves for his first career WHL shutout, Red Deer wins 3-0.

That he was! You could just tell that nothing was getting past him tonight. He got a little luck with the iron at one point but other than that was simply superb. I really like the play of the top line too. Sutter, Ofokany, and Smith look like they will add some offensive spark the rest of the way. Ofokany has been excellent so far, a great addition. I guess if the Rebels can be spoilers the rest of the way, so be it.
Nice to finally see a win on home ice. That's five for the season! Woohoo!!!!

^^ Congrats to Reimer for being the player of the week this week.
Also, the Vancouver/Prince Albert Shaw telecast scheduled for tonight was cancelled (they couldn't fly the crew from Calgary to Saskatoon apparently).
Kootenay @ Edmonton tomorrow night on Sportsnet.
Chilliwack @ Kelowna Friday on Shaw, that should be a goodie!

Hitmen win again last night in Edmonton, 2-1 in OT.
Huge weekend coming up for Calgary. Regina tonight, and then Tri-City tomorrow. Two of the top six teams in the league.

Sounds like Kootenay just couldn't hang on to a 1-0 lead tonight against the Hitmen, but they still got a point. Not bad, considering they are having to make do with 2 16 y.o. goaltenders for the time being.
Giants have Tri-City in town Friday. This week's Shaw broadcast is also on Friday night, Regina @ Medicine Hat.

Doesn't really need its own thread, so I'll mention this here:
St. Johns is already losing it's QMJHL team. The Fog Devils have been sold to a group planning to move the franchise to Verdun.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/newfoundlan...og-devils.html
Shame too, since St. Johns is currently 7th of 18 teams in the Q in attendance.

^^ Didn't they have to pay (some of) every visiting team's travel expenses because of their location?
