Give me a break. You don't know musical hardship unless you grew up during the 80's when you could count the number of decent bands on one hand. All the other "bands" were busy seeing who could wear the most makeup and have the poofiest hair.

It was so bad back then that Bon Jovi was considered hard rock.

I remember the radio in 1994, where a 30 minute set might net you tracks from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice, Nirvana and maybe a little Seven Mary Three if you were lucky. Good Times.

What station is this? I'm a pretty huge Korn and RATM fan. 'Course, I have been since the late 90's so that's like 10 years ago...
But yeah, if I heard a 30 minute set that included Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana and STP I think I'd cream my pants and never change the station again.

Regardless they had every right to do what they did. It was their property and they should have control over how it's distributed. And that was what the whole thing was based off of. Not money because they ended up paying more than they made from the whole thing and they didn't care but control because they admit they're complete control freaks with Hetfield being the worst which lead to Newsted quitting.

The whole thing started because they were pissed off a leaked version of I Disappear showed up on Napster and a bunch of radio stations were playing it before the movie even came out.

I don't have a problem with them or lars or whoever standing up for themselfs, as a matter of fact up untill that point I had been a metallica fan since master of puppets... What I had and have a problem with is how a gigantic band with huge backing fought so hard to maintain a system where giant record companys had the power to do whatever they wanted. Basically helping the record labels take away one of the few things that in the future was gonna give the small independent artist a chance. It looked alot like they were willing being a mouth piece, screaming the RIAA's brutaly self centered message..

Pretty sure you can listen online, but I'm guessing there's really no point to that for you!

If your song is played on VIBE, Russic has banned you.

Sad thing is....almost 90% of the songs I have on my mp3 player do NOT receive radio airplay.

Sorry for the bump, but I felt I had to add this to the list: Mika. Every time I even hear one note of his songs, I just...well, it's not a good scene. I simply cannot stand the look or sound of the man, and I seem to be the only one around here. To me, there is absolutely nothing redeeming about him or his music at all. It isnt a case of simply shutting the radio off; it's bludgeoning it with a baseball bat and then throwing it out the window of a very high building.

Well this doesn't really apply to me as I've banned all radio music. I listen to my iPod in my car.
But were I to listen to the radio, AC/DC, Nickleback and the Foo Fighters (seriously, AIDS deniers? WTF?) would be the bands I'd avoid the most.
