YES! That is what I was thinking of. Hercules was unbelievable. You were hooked at the theme song.
[B]Hercules, only the evil fear him, Hercules. Strong as Lion he is, Hercules

Roger Ramjet was a short-lived cartoon that had a catchy tune.
Underdog was pretty funny
And, of course, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Who could forget the scene where Rocky and Bullwinkle sell a solid gold car to Natasha and Boris for about $3 and two all-day suckers.
As Boris is driving off, Bullwinkle counts the money and yells after the car: "Hey, where are those two suckers you promised us!!??"
Hahahahaha.

Dragon Slayer - this was the cartoon based on the video game where you got to pick what Dirk should do before each commercial. When it came back you got to see what happened under each scenario. I loved it.
Also - in the "cartoons based on video games" genre there was a show called "Saturday Morning Showcase" or something with a bunch of cartoons - Donkey Kong, Frogger, Q-Bert, others. Loved that too.
But my all time fave is the Transformers.

Good one.
Thunderbirds isn't quite a cartoon but puppets are halfway there.

What? No Scooby-Doo or Captain Caveman mentioned yet? How about Droids and Ewoks? Pound puppies sucked though.

Speaking of which, has anybody seen the trailers for the thunderbirds movie? It makes me so angry to see my favorite childhood institutions destroyed by a desire to make a cheap buck off of today's youth.
