Devils rebound from the loss to Atlanta with a nice 3-0 win over the Stars ... including a last-second goal by none other than the offensive star Ken Klee. Nice to see the team starting to pick up a few more wins but it may be close to time to pack it in for the season ...

Ducks lose a tight one, giuliano gooned it up by giving a massive hook to the backup lalime and injuring him while getting a game misconduct. Turned out to be good news for the oil because lalime was sucking but brodeur came in and shut the door.

Huge win for the Avs. Line changes seem to have ignited Sykora, who nets a hat trick. Great way to enter the break!

Actually it was Brodeur he injured, Lalime came in and preserved the win. Thankfully Brodeur is only down to 98.

Oh what am I saying, it's just nice to get the win.

Hard to be upset about a 1-0 loss...the Predators outshot the Coyotes but couldn't get one past Toskala. I'm glad that we held them to one goal!!

Thrashers beat the Penguins 5-4 and head into the Christmas break with a league leading 62 points. Good test vs a pre-season favorite in Pittsburgh. Pretty even game as the shots were 27-27. Atlanta would like to wish the rest of the league a happy holidays and will be unavailable the next few days during the Christmas time. Have a safe holidays and talk to you all when the season resumes!

671 DUCKS 2 OILERS 3
The Oilers needed to enter the holiday break on a high note following an embarassing defeat at the hands of the Jets on Day 75, and they managed to do so by just barely scraping by the Anaheim Ducks.

On an early penalty to the Ducks, the Oilers capitalised on a Vincent Lecavalier powerplay goal which featured an unusual man advantage unit unforseen by GM icarus. Nevertheless it worked, and after some sloppy play the Oilers would add another several minutes later when Roman Hamrlik scored his second goal in as many nights, giving Edmonton a 2-0 advantage.

Oilers goaltender Martin Brodeur would get the hook and leave the game early in the second period. Unfortunately it was not a coaching decision, but rather what has been described as a "massive hook" to Brodeur's midsection by no-talent ass clown Jeff Guiliano. After the game it was thankfully determined that Brodeur's injury was mild. Backup Patrick Lalime entered the game to play his third game in as many nights. He held the Ducks scoreless in the 2nd, but unfortunately the Oilers could not add to their lead.

The Ducks would draw to within one in the 3rd period when Marc Chouinard sprung Travis Moen on a breakaway shortly after Moen was released from the penalty box. Soon thereafter the Oilers would find themselves on the powerplay again and this time Ales Kotalik would score a simple tap in after a nice tic-tac-toe play set up by Henrik Zetterberg and Daniel Alfredsson, who recorded this third assist of the game. The Ducks would again draw to within one minutes later on a goal from former Oiler Nikolai Zherdev. The Oilers largely carried the play for the rest of the period but would not score, and in fact would have to survive a late shorthanded situation after Bryan Berard made an obscene gesture at the referree. They would hold on to win however, sending Edmonton into the break on a high note. Daniel Alfredsson was named first star for the Oilers.

The Oilers will now try to heal up minor injuries to Brodeur and Berard over the break so that they can be prepared for a strong second half playoff push.

GM icarus wishes everyone in the CPHL a happy and safe holiday season!

A day after shutting out Philly, Belfour blanks Dallas. That was a real bummer, the game was scoreless into the 3rd period. But you can't win them all, and really the guys have made a great recovery to get back to just outside of a playoff spot.

At one point the Stars were 7-14-2. Currently they stand at 18-22-2. 11 wins and 8 losses isn't too bad.

As far as the roster goes, I do not forsee a big blockbuster trade happening. Honestly, I go back and forth on keeping Bernier on the team. He's had a couple good games, but has been invisible other than that.

In other news, congrats to David Jones for making his NHL debut Thursday for Colorado against the Rangers.

Nice to enter the Xmas break on a win.
Mats Sundin is starting to find his stride - 2 points in this one. In fact balanced scoring across 3 lines - good to see.
