Toshiba Builds 100x Smaller Micro Nuclear Reactor

	http://www.nextenergynews.com/news1/...ar-12.17b.htmlQuote:

		| Toshiba has developed a new class of micro size Nuclear Reactors that is designed to power individual apartment buildings or city blocks. The new reactor, which is only 20 feet by 6 feet, could change everything for small remote communities, small businesses or even a group of neighbors who are fed up with the power companies and want more control over their energy needs. |
Way of the future.

Probably not long until they can make them small enough for cars.

I'm not sure that I'm all that crazy about the notion of small nuclear reactors piloted around by people after taking into consideration the terminally bad driving that can be found in Calgary. Seriously, it scares me. I would think that for cars the way to go would be an electromagnetic field on a grid type of system rather than a generation type propulsion system.

Try telling people there's a nuclear reactor 20 feet away from them. That'll help resale.
Great idea, not realistic in the real world...

Maybe people would be more careful if they have a nuclear reactor under the hood.... |

Vandalism of the future: instead of smashing bus shelters, young punks can give unsuspecting people cancer.

If they can't build a laptop that won't overheat I've got some serious concerns about their reactors.

Any engine that is made, must conform to strict standards, in that an accident would not cause any major damage to the reactor part (ie: not cause a metldown, explosion, etc).

The price points of consumer laptops likely make it financially not doable. If you want to pay 20K for a laptop, sure they could probably make one that doesnt over heat.

Lol, I'm having visions of a small fender bender resulting in a mushroom cloud. Funny, in a really twisted kinda way.

Yeah, but what if the family in the car that gets caught in that fender bender ends up with super powers?

I wouldn't mind having superpowers, as long as it's not the nail growing one.

Or the one where you can make a herring appear out of thin air. Nothin impressive about that one unless you are really hungry. Spose some may consider you the second coming of Christ on the other hand.
