He is shooting 48.2% from the field and has improved his FG% every year he has been in the NBA. Ford is also 11th in the NBA in Assist/TO ratio.
I don't see the Hate on for Ford. I guess if you wanted to compare him directly with Calderon, he looks like a turnover machine, but Calderon is ripping apart the NBA with his Assist/TO ratio. TJ still has very good numbers for a PG and has gotten better each year.

Ford is better at creating his own shot off the dribble and can(does not happen often) play defense if he is in the mood. Ford does do a good job of getting Bosh into the offense. Calderon is just a very smart BB player. He takes exactly what the defense gives him without giving the ball away. Ford tries drives and passes that are more difficult/apt to be picked off but they can also pay off with easy baskets/dunks.
What can't be overestimated is the changeup. When Smitch uses them effectively they have the defense confused. They go from a two man game with Bosh and Ford working the high post game to a penetrate and dish outside game with Calderon. It really is quite the duo.

Flipped over from the flames intermission just in time to see Ford take a nasty flagrant from Al Horford toward the end of the Hawks game. Spent about five minutes on the floor and just got wheeled off. The initial flagrant pulled his head back hard, then he went down and his head just slammed down on the court. Yikes...

Missed the game. Checked youtube, but nothing up yet. I'm going to guess it's a precautionary measure though considering Ford's history.

Man it was brutal. The guy hammers him in the head and his head hits the floor with a whump. Of course they show it over like 10 times -- very scary and I hope and pray that Ford is alright. The guy's career could well be in jeopardy on a play like that!!!

I sure hope this sparks the "Ford gets injured too much" discussion... yet again. You gotta feel for any athlete who gets pulled off the floor/field/ice on a stretcher - Regardless of history.

Update says he is on the way back to Toronto if not already back. Will be further evaluated but he is up and walking and looks like at worst he has another stinger.

Yeah, he's in plainclothes at the game right now. Good to see.
Good news, the raps are up by 16 on Dallas. Bad news is that they never seem to be able to hold leads against Dallas.

Raptors pull off a very strong comeback victory on the road. This coming after an impressive win over the Mavericks. Kapono was on fire and Bosh strong as usual. The constant though in the two games was Humphries who has been unbelievable with his inside game, rebounding and tenacity.
The inside game is what has held the Raps back and though Rosho, Delfino and Moon have been giving them some inside game Humphries has really stepped in and laid claim to some minutes.
They are going to need an improved game as next up is the Celtics followed by a six game road trip. A Western swing with games at the likes of San Antonio and Phoenix among others.

The raps need to lock up Calderon long term right now!!!!!!!!!!!!
TJ is too injury prone and its nice to have Calderon on this team. Personally I think Calderon is a better player than TJ. That being said TJ is really good

I really think the one-two punch is what makes them special. TJ isn't as smart as Calderon but he can create his own shot if need be. Calderon spreads it around more and TJ forces the attack mainly with Bosh.
To me it hardly matters and both of them aren't all that special on the defensive end. And that is where the Raps really have problems in contending with the good teams as they just can't stop them.

I agree absolutely. I'd just add that in a 48 minute game, I'd personally want Calderon playing 28 minutes including the final minutes, not the other way around. As for their problems in defence, that's where a big centre is needed. I like Humphrey's a lot, but the guy can't handle the ball, shoot, or play as an everyday centre. That game with Houston exposed their D earlier on when Yao was just destroying them down low (though he does that to most teams, this was disgustingly easy). I don't think they're a player away from being special, but a centre IMO is definitely what the doctor ordered.

They really do get exposed against big guys. Not even just guys like Yao and Garnett but virtually any of the league's power forwards give them fits. Rosho does an alright job but isn't out there for big minutes. Meanwhile Bosh and Bargnani are both tall and skinny. Humph gives it his all but lacks talent and can't play big minutes either.
When the tough get going the Raps get owned!!!

I don't know about that.
I think an elite SG or SF would push this team into the realms of the elite teams in the NBA - someone who can drive to the basket and get to the line a lot/and or kick it out to the shooters - I like Delfino/Parker/Capono, but they're more complementary players, they're kinda borderline starters/6th men, and are especially effective if they have someone very good lining up beside them and they play in an effective rotation.
Centre? Hump is a good backup C, and while they really don't have many options, and it is pretty darn hard to find a good NBA C. He is still very young and could develop in to something. Granted he is only 6'11 and working on Yao, who is 7'6 is a huge match problem for anyone in the NBA.
Ideally when you have everyone firing on all cylinders, you'd be taking away either ABs or Bosh's minutes if you ended up getting a legit C, since Mitchell enjoys lining them up at C sometimes. Bargs needs to start playing a lot better, he has the tools and the agility, but it is time to get that confidence back and start playing better.

Don't ya think the best think AB could do for his confidence is hit the weight room?

I think so, but I'm not sure if the organization feels the same way. They'd rather have him run a lot in transition rather than give him a lot of half court sets/low post time.
It would be nice if he could turn into a Shaq who can shoot freethrows/3 pointers though (obviously not THAT good).

Huge win today... Bosh has played some of the best games of his career over the last few. Also impressive that after Moon's bonehead play at the end of regulation, he comes back with two key blocks in overtime. I'm really looking forward to the stretch for this Toronto team, I think they're on the verge of going on a pretty big run.
On the other side, how good is Portland going to be if and when you add a healthy Oden to that mix?

I hate to be debbie downer here, but today's game, as exciting as it was, was frustrating as hell to watch with some of Toronto's clutch shot choices. Bargnani looks awesome when playing aggressive in the key, but his sweetspot 3's just get frustrating when they don't go down. Kevin Martin looks like a waste on the court during the 5 minutes he gets - brings it to midcourt and passes it off to Bosh, and never gets it back - if he does, it's a last second airball lob for him. As for Bosh, he's never really been dominant, but recently like you said, it's nice that he's taken it upon himself to try to end it the last few minutes. This game though, iirc, he missed a ton of FT's and missed a few buzzer beaters. Roy looked great, and for a guy who was said to have already reached his peak at the draft, he looks to be a solid clutch starter. But yeah, Bargnani better get his shat together...it's too frustrating to watch a mobile 7' with a sweet shot not able to drain it or drive every single play.
