Strong economy, young labour force makes this town the most attractive.
I'm still thrilled about living here, just over four years after moving to town.

When I see Saint John ranked second-last on that list, it makes me more and more glad I left that stink-town five years ago.

I KNOW Saskatoon is a nicer city than Edmonton. This list is wrong.
Calgary is right on the money though, very nice looking city.

I don't understand how Washington is the #1 city in North America.
Everything I've ever heard about the place says it is not that nice of a city.

Holy crap, that is very, very debatable. I know every city has it's nice areas and dumpy areas, but Saskatoon's dumpy areas are depressing as f$^%. And I've seen Edmonton's worst.

I'm curious about Washington being #1. I thought it had very bad crime and traffic issues. This seems to be fairly heavily weighted to economic considerations.

Washington DC is a tremendous place to visit, that said there are issues in the immediate downtown area that are detrimental
I think alot of the suburbs are fine though, and friends I've known who have lived in the metro DC area have enjoyed it quite a bit

How bout Calgary's climate, they should have added that to the equation and there's no way Cgy would be number one.

The "harsh climate" of Calgary is overrated by some, I'd say. Weather here is a crapshoot but the citizens make the most of what any given day throws at them.
I do enjoy visiting Vancouver, so I can't take too many shots at it.

sure, but I think a surprisingly low number of professionals factor climate into their relocation plans...I agree with another poster above that Calgary's climate isn't THAT bad, but when the weather is bad I ask myself briefly why I'm here, but when I factor everything in, its a no-brainer to stay (for me anyways)

Meh. Calgary is a nice place to live, but it's nowhere near the metropolis that New York, London, or Tokyo has to offer. I'd live in those those cities any day of the week, and Tokyo twice on Tuesday's before I live in Calgary.
The problem is it's so easy to live here and make money it's hard to leave, but once you do and you go to a great city, calgary is simply an afterthought.

Isn't a strong Economy and young labour force the only things calgary has going for it? Crap public transportation, a weak arts and music scene, the most uncontained urban sprawl in North America, more murders and gang-related crime every year...
Washington DC number 1?! Isn't that city the murder capital of the US, or has been in years past?
