If the driver of the dump truck has a conscience I hope the deaths haunt him for the rest of his life!

But he had to get where he was going. It's not his fault they got in his way.
My condolences to the families of those who were killed.

Five people are dead after a crash on the southern edge of the city.
It happened at around 7 p.m. Friday night.
The crash happened at Macleod Trail South at 194 Avenue.
Five people are dead including three children.

The driver of that vehicle was uninjured in the crash.
Northbound Macleod Trail is closed while police investigate.

Uh, yeah, and the family had to get where they were going too. So was it also their fault that the truck driver was speeding?

Or fell asleep at the wheel. Or was impaired. Guess that's what the investigation will try to find out.

Five people — including three children — were killed Friday in a horrific crash involving a cement truck at the city’s southern edge.
The five victims, all travelling in one vehicle, died at the scene of the 7 p.m. crash on Macleod Trail at 194th Avenue S.E., which left debris scattered for several hundred metres.
Though the investigation was in its early stages, police duty inspector Luch Berti said it appeared the car — which was unrecognizable — may have been struck from behind by the cement truck.
The truck’s driver was not hurt in the crash; police took him into custody for questioning.
“Some of the information we’ve received is that the truck was travelling at a high rate of speed,” Berti said at the scene, where tarps covered what remained of the shredded car that was pinned under the cement truck.
It appears both vehicles were headed north on Macleod Trail, said police, adding that the car had stopped at a set of traffic lights at the 194th Avenue intersection.
Nearby residents say they have for years worried about a potential crash involving a construction-type vehicle at the intersection. “I feel sick this has happened,” said

Brutal, these heavy truck drivers should have to re-test every few years, there are far too many drivers out there that get complacent in their rigs and forget what kind of damage they can do because of ######ed mistakes. Just tonight i was thinking of a bad memory as i saw a super-B doing about 120-130 in the fast lane on deerfoot.
I personly saw a accident in ontario 20 years ago where 7 people died in a van because the stupid truck driver was in the far right lane of a highway and "needed" to get over to his intended turnoff in a hury...it still haunts me to this day to see those people burning to death.

Late evening news said one victim was pulled from the vehicle but died soon after.

Absolutely horrifying - my condolences. Shades of the nuns that were killed by that Burnco gravel truck on the Trans Canada, just outside COP.

This is the 2nd time in just over a month IIRC that a cement truck was involved in a crash. That's horrible news that 5 people are dead. It said that the driver of the truck was shaken, but he/she was speeding and hit the car from behind according to the reports. I don't feel any remorse for him/her.
5 innocent people are dead. RIP.

It kind of sounds like the accident I had a couple of years ago. I was in the left hand lane at a stop light on the highway. There was a large semi trailer in the right hand lane beside me. The light turned green and we just started to move, but the semi next to me was really slow. A person came barreling down the highway and knew the light was going to turn green right away so instead of slowing down, they just moved into the left hand lane to pass the semi. The problem was that I was there. I guess they couldn't see me because the semi was so large.
I would not be surprised if that is was happened here.

Why is the truck driver immediately designated as evil?
I dont get it. Okay, the truck was speeding. Thats not an unforgivable offense.
Honestly, this seems like an accident of the worst kind, but it doesnt meant that the truck driver has to be burned at the stake.

He is evil because he hit a vehicle that had stopped at a set of lights. When they showed a video of the scene there wasn't much left of the car. It looks like the cement truck drove up and on top of the car.
He killed 2 adults and 3 children.
Should I go on?

I missed that accident by a matter of about 4 minutes as I was heading back home to High River. I travel that road a lot and have witnessed near accidents as drivers fail to stop for those set of lights. It was only a matter of time before someone got killed.

The evilness comes from his casual disregard for the safety and wellbeing of other people on the road. There is absolutely no excuse for speeding on the road, especially if you are driving a large truck. Negligence should be punished as much as possible.
