				 Snowboard Music

So snowboard season is upon us, and I'm starting to get ready. You guys know that I'm a bit of a rocker but I'm starting to expand that a little as I've recently gotten into what I refer to as snowboard rap. I.E. Rap that's not gangster rap.

Give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Couple albums I picked up were
 Hieroglyphics- 3rd eye Vision
Ugly Ducking- Bang for the Buck

So then add those to my usual snowboard playlist of
 Foo Fighters
 Sloan
 Trews
 Rooney
 Gorillaz
 Gnarls Barkley
 Radiohead
 Rage Agaisnt The Machine
 Raconteurs
 Archive
 and obvious more

I feel like I've got a good foundation for my Snowboarding iPod.
 Any suggestions to add?

I posted this in the GH3 thread, but theres a better chance you'll see it here:
Off topic, but...

Clearly you're a big Foo Fighter fan, so I was wondering how you feel about their stance on HIV/AIDS? Personlly, I find it ignorant and dangerous and has been the reason I can't consider myself a fan of theirs anymore. But I'm interested in how you feel about it.

In 2000, the band generated controversy through their public support of Alive & Well, an organization that denies the link between HIV and AIDS, questions the validity of HIV tests, and advises against taking medication to counter the disease.
They also organized and played a benefit concert for Alive & Well.

			What exactly is "Snowboard music"?
How bout a team canada pro rider that makes his own music? Ever heard of Trevor Andrew? He's got a cool sound. Check out - Trouble Andrew. His tunes are on most snowboard vids coming out of Whistler. Pretty sic new wave punky 80's hip hop steez.

I usually just dl the soundtrack to a few snowboard videos that come out in the season. It gets you excited listening to the parts and imagining the video.

I don't know if there really is a specific snowboard music, but I've noticed that ever since way back when when I started snowboarding it has become a much more Urban and stylized.

The Urban part, IMO, comes from the fact that in most videos now a days you find alot of electronica and hip hop. But most of the rap that I hear in "snowboard rap" as I've been calling it lately, is done by actual musicians. Its rap that I actually respect because the music itself is artifice instruments with over powering bass, and the lyrics aren't about ho's and bust caps....i'm so white.

For snowboard rap I am looking at all instrumentals this year. Nice soft flowing rap beats (think atmosphere sounding) with little to no words on top. I am planning on making a couple 4 hour long mixtapes on my tables. For the kind of rap you mentioned in the OP-
Anything produced by DJ Premier (Gangstarr, Jeru, Group Home, etc.)
Anything produced by Pete Rock (PR & CL Smooth, Deda, etc)
Anything produced by Rza (ok so i might like a little kill bill-oriental-hardcore-gangster rap)

Also if you have played amped 1 or 2, theres this dude that makes all these dope beats, hes from portland, and his name eludes me.

Ok so after refreshing myself on this with those two articles two things came up in my mind from when we talked about this on the Foo's Board.
 A) Going off track for a second but it returns I swear.
As much as people think its Dave Grohl's band it really isn't. Maybe writing the music but all other aspects is pretty much up to everyone involved. They are a true band, and a band sticks together. Nate was obviously passionate about this, so they band backed him up on it. So yes, they obviously didn't disagree with him so much that they vetoed the idea, but my understanding is this is more of Nate's thing. So I don't think its fair too point the finger at the whole band for it.
 B) This, like many other public things, automatically was looked at for its negative side. My understanding is that the book is more on the side of the treatments aren't necessarily a good thing and helping. Call me on that if I'm wrong, I do want to know more on this topic because I wasn't such a devote fan until after all this happened
And on that thought, I don't think they ever said "IT ALL LIES! DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! IF YOU HAVE SEX WITH HIV YOU WON'T GET AIDS" (which is pretty much what people are saying they are doing by supporting this...again its that whole automatically look at the negative thing)

The Amped Series has great music. I'll look into those guys you mentioned, and let me know when you have those mixes done.
