Wow, what utter sad and pathetic this post is. I'd LOVE to see you come here tomorrow talking about your car being written off and your leg shattered in 5 places because you were tailgating and the guy infront had to slam on the breaks. Ever wonder why there are multi-car accidents? FYI, why don't all those who come flying up faster get into the middle lane after they pass someone? By your own logic they are just as wrong as everyone else. And finaly, your interpretation of this sign is um, WRONG.

no, Dr., you are not obligated to yield the passing lane. It is, however, called courtesy. And I find it highly ironic that you whine about how others lack the same on the road.

Like I said, when it is safe to do so, you have a responsibility to move over. It is 100% NOT your job to regulate the speed of others. If some clown wants to do 130 up the left lane, let him. Because I can guarantee that if you are riding the left lane from McKenzie Lake to McKnight, you are obstructing numerous others as they attempt to get where they are going. I can also virtually guarantee that for large stretches of that commute, you could move back to the centre lane without affecting your own ability to get where you are going.

Because it seems people see those signs, come to a stop or slow down trying to get on the highway at the first first dotted line, when they have a mile to make the change.
Heh. I do agree with your point though. Coming up Glenmore at Deerfoot usually becomes impossibly frustrating at least twice a week because someone who doesn't understand the concept of a free flow lane instead backs up the entire freeway because they start to block the right lane trying to rush into the middle.

These threads are always enjoyable, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. It's humorous that when someone decides to post on here the true laws and the fact that exceeding the speed limit anywhere on Alberta's roads is in fact illegal, they get jumped on. Regardless of the fact that some of these posters come across as arrogant, they aren't wrong. Sure it's courtesy to let faster moving cars drive in the left lane, and it probably helps traffic flow to do so. But there is no obligation to do this. Even on the highway. The speed limit is the speed limit, no getting around that.

With that said, it's not as if I never speed. In fact, I am rarely at the speed limit even on city streets with a 50km/h limit. But if I were to get pulled over for such an act, I would be guilty, pretty simple.

I am not sure why these traffic laws are so hard to understand. There is a different between law and courtesy.

I'd LOVE to never see you here again, but we all can't have what we wish for.

How is this FYI? Isn't this a question rather than a statement?

I find this really easy but I guess some people are having trouble with it. Unless you are actually passing a car you should not be in a left lane. Once you make the pass move over to the middle or right lane...

But I personally move over ASAP after passing, and so should everyone else. Why people don't is a great question, but probably because they are people like you and just trying to prove a point in that you can slow the world down by not knowing how to be curtious.

Do whatever you want, no one is stopping you for clogging up the left lane and holding up traffic. Just don't get all pissy pants when everyone is tail gating you, sure you are within the law but if others want to get their faster and speed that is their issue if they get caught.

So everyone agrees that Dr. Evil deserves to be tailgated and undercut whenever it is possible. Oh and I dunno how I should interpret "Slower traffic keep right" seems pretty self explanatory to me. It's people like him that prevent me from feeling guilty about punishing inept boneheads on the road.

So is it a courtesy or a responsibility? It's not both. I don't regulate the speed of others, I drive in the through lane to get to where I am going. If others want to drive faster than what I am doing, which generally is faster than the middle lane, they are out of luck. IF you want to speed at great excess then YOU can do all the lane changing and putting others at risk. I'm not going to move for you because you feel I should. I will move when I need to. There's no need to be going over 120 anywhere on Deerfoot, and even that speed is excessive. I'm not here saying everyone should not go more than 100.00001. I guess maybe my courtesy is keeping you idiots going far to fast with your high and mighty attitudes towards your own driving skills, the driving skills of others and the saftey of others, from putting all those others at even greater risk by allowing you past.

If you think I'm a rude person, I don't give a F. I'm quite far from it actualy. What is rude is tailgating, swerving all over and flashing you lights like YOU are more important than anyone else on the raod. You aren't so get over it. Again, enjoy my bumper. That's my courteous and responsible reply.

See, this is the exact idiotic response the morons on the roads in this city will come up with. You believe slower traffic is traffic doing the speed limit. Guess what pal, if you are going over the posted limit you are illegal on the road and therefor 100% in the wrong. Slower means slower than the posted limit no matter how you try and spin it. Further, you are one of those idiots who thinks you are always the fastest and won't be moving over for someone wanting to blow by you. You idiots really need to be taught a lesson out there, one day it just may happen. The laws of the road apply to you as much as they do me. If you are telling me I'm slower and should be to the right, then you can't be doing more than 100 KPH. Period. End of story. If I'm wrong you are wrong. Unfortunately you are wrong BEHIND me. So suck my exhaust.

This board is $h!t, I'm out.

I have to give kudos to the city of calgary. I swear, ever since I went bonkers in the last driving thread, people have been alot better about left lanery. I drive the 'foot pretty much daily and often many times per day. It's almost like the city has come together to out Dr. Evil.

Anyway, too bad about that attitude. I really don't get the mentality of worrying about what other poeple are doing. If you want to be a cop, they're hiring. Otherwise, let me do my 110/120/130 in peace. And I promise that anyone that comes up behind me I'll move over for.

One more thing. It's nice that alot of you admit to speeding. The stretch I drive most often is from 22x to Anderson. I spend most of that time in the middle lane, pacing whoever is in front of me. It is usually around 120kph.
Yeah, there is inevitably some j/o screaming down the (nice and open) left lane at 150, but that's not my business. I think we all just secretly hope to see him pulled over a few clicks away.

People are just gonna pass you on the right, you are not saving the world or a trailblazer or superman or anything else. You are just a rude, bad driver. You have no courtesy and furthermore I think you have issues that you need to deal with.

I am a firm believer in keeping pace with cops. However fast they're going, is how fast I'm going. Just the other day on 22x, I followed a cop from Mcleod to Deerfoot at a nice 10 over.
It's all about the road conditions.

To bad Dr Evil is longer allowed to post. I really wanted to ask him how he likes my fogs, driving, and brights all on at the same time. If I could only figure out how to wire up the driving lights on my basket without damaging the roof to get all 4 sets of lights aimed at the back of his head.

I figured out a way to get all mine on at once.. I turn on my fogs and then use the quick flash but hold it to get every light on the front of my truck bright and f'ing annoying.. If you just click the brights on it kills the fog lamps, but if you hold it the other way both work.. Though I hope I'm not setting myself up for a wiring fire...

Yeah, the old 'hold in the switch' trick. My truck doesn't have fog lights, but I still get accused of having my brights on from time to time. When that happens they get maximum light reply.

Well, throughout all the speeding threads, I've always maintained that although I'm not condoning speeding, the reality is that there will always be people doing it. And the safest thing to do (in my humble opinion) is to let the speeding individual through by moving over to the right lane when its safe to do so. Either way the guy's going to go around you. You might as well make it safe for yourself. It's just defensive driving.
