Default Caps need a 75ish RW or C

Due to an injury to Bob Lang (gone for a month), the Caps need to bring in a 2nd line LW or Center.

Up for grabs:

Daniel Carcillo
Dan Ellis
Shawn Belle
2 1st rounders

Caps have brought in someone to help get through their injury issues. Details to follow shortly.

The Caps have mortgaged the future to remain up in the top of the standings...

Daniel Carcillo and a 2008 LA 1st rnd pick were shipped off to Chicago for Mike Sillinger and cash.

The deal was necessary because of a long term injury to leading scorer Bob Lang.

Well should be interesting to see if the Caps have to do something in a couple months when Sissy Spacek comes off IR. Not a bad move though, as Carcillo is sort of tough to get a read on. Type of guy who might be a second line winger but will always have a bad DI rating. I've always maintained, picking 25-30 spots into the CPHL draft carries no guarantees no matter how good the draft crop of players is. Given the chance a contending team is always better off to move a pick like that for right now help.

yep, I say have fun playing the game for 6 months then hoping some pick you select 7-8 months from now pans out 3 years down the road. Nobody says you can't have that pick back before then... have your cake and eat it too

Fact is.... I consider the Caps a contender... and sometimes you have to sell the future to remain a contender.

Losing your top scorer for a month means sacrifices have to be made.

And fact is...if you don't have the guts to make a move like this a contending team will end up in the middle of the road and never be able to win a round in the playoffs. So if you feel you have a shot at it, than why not make a move like this? Really did you give up any prime assets to add a guy who can play any position on your top two lines?

I don't think you did. You gave up two pieces that were going to offer you little or nothing in terms of help this year to bring in a guy who should really help you out now, and could pay off big time in the playoffs.

Good move for the Capitals.

While Sillinger makes a lot of money... he has good DF, OF and EX/LD ratings.

If anything now the hole is in my forward depth.... the caps need a 70ish rated guy
