Default Sabres Annouce Press Conference to Recognize Ruslan Fedotenko

The Buffalo Sabres have called a press conference to highlight an important pregame ceremony prior to tonights game against the St Louis Blues. In todays contest , Sabre Winger Ruslan Fedotenko will be playing in his staggering 450th consecutive CPHL game, all with the CPHL Buffalo Sabres.

"This is an incredible accomplishment for Ruslan, something that is unlikely be broken by anyone but himself in the CPHL" acknowledged Sabres GM Looooob.

Fedotenko was an original Sabre from the time of the CPHL inception. He has never missed a game due to injury, fatigue, suspension or coaches decision.

"While we acknowledge that one of the greatest aspects of the CPHL is the usual high volume of trading" Loooob continued, "its also important to have certain players associated with certain teams. In our case there have been 3 long standing Sabres namely Fedotenko, Wade Belak and JS Giguere, but only Ruslan has been here since day one without interruption. He has been a great player for us, can play both LW and RW and has been a fixture on our 2nd and 3rd lines."

Fedotenko led the Sabres in scoring last year, and is currently amongst the top 10 leaders in the CPHL at RW. After wearing the jersey number 27 for the 2002-2003 season, Fedotenko has worn number 26 to the present day. He has shared the team captaincy with longtime friend and roomate Wade Belak off and on for many years.

Fedotenkos stats in brief:
2002-2003 86GP 25 goals 26 assists 51 points +31
2003-2004 86 22 25 47 +8
2004-2005 86 14 34 48 -13
2005-2006 86 26 26 52 +11
2006-2007 86 31 44 75 +24
2007-2008 19 8 11 19 -10
CPHL total 449 126 166 292 +61

I know he's missed some games with the Lightning in the NHL, so he must have been a healthy scratch. You know now that you've said this...Rusalan is headed straight for a 3 month injury

I know we all love to trade, but it's pretty cool when a guy sticks with a team for that long. 02-03 seems like a long, long time ago.

Yeah, that's a good point. I joined the league in 2004 and the only guy remaining from my original roster is Mike Zigomanis who I acquired from Axel along with some other players for Anson Carter IIRC.

That is a very cool stat! 450 straight games seems like an eternity where there are so many injuries and such.

No where competes with Ruslan Fedotenko's amazing record, but just to put into perspective. The Hurricanes have two remaining players from when I took over the 'Canes helm in it's second season

Sean Hill
2003-04 - 83GP 8G 57A 65PTS -8 160PIM
2004-05 - 77GP 9G 39A 48PTS +22 141PIM
2005-06 - 86GP 10G 41A 51PTS +2 169PIM
2006-07 - 83GP 8G 30A 38PTS +37 184PIM
2007-08 - 20GP 2G 14A 16PTS +0 63PIM

Total - 349GP 37G 218A 65PTS -53 717PIM

so even with Hill's great run he's had while I've taken over, which is huge, it's STILL a season less then Fedotenko (how many players don't make it a season) Hill has only missed 15 Games as a Hurricane for me.

and people wonder why we don't accept a fouth line scrup for these players eh

Plus also remember the SIM never ran the injuries as we used real life players current medical situation to affect our injuries. 5 years of SIM injuries shake done any player before then and reason why this should and will go unmatched

Well back when we didn't use SIM injuries day to day guys were able to play and sometimes RotoWorld would miss a guy being injured. You'd get a guy out two days with the Flu having to go on IR and miss 3 days because they didn't update it even though his NHL persona didn't miss a single game, and another guy who had a day to day groin injury miss three weeks but you could still play in the CPHL. But really there was no good way to enforce the injuries using that system. I always found NHL injuries were more frequent, but the SIM tended to have more long term type ones. Although look at NHL rosters come March and most teams have 3-4 guys with injuries. Whereas with the SIM you usually don't have more than 2-3 at a time.
