Best bar/pub to meet a man?
So, I'm a little shy in real life when getting to know people, and I'm not really comfortable asking men out. That said, my sister brought up the fact that I've tried just about every method of meeting a man that I can, except for doing so at a bar or pub. So I'm coming to CP for advice since there's lots of men here... where would be a good bar or pub to meet a man? I like to do stuff while out drinking and think that playing pool is a helpful tool in breaking the ice... I'm not really one to just sit there and get drunk. I'd prefer to do stuff while getting drunk. In addition, I'm not into clubs. I'm 26 and wear way too many clothes to be going to clubs.
So where do all the good men drink?

The Ship gets a large diversity of people. Freaks and normal people side by side and if you strike out with the guys there's always a couple of lesbians hanging out there too.

Seriously, the bar/pub should be the last place you look for a man. Finding one before and then going there is fine. Of course, if I or other guys were approached in a bar/pub, it probably wouldn't take much to become "friends".
Ya know what, screw it. Worth a shot.

I'm wondering if your shyness is the bigger problem here. The trick IMO is to find a place where you can meet guys who share a similar interest to you. You obviously like hockey and I would think a sports bar would be a good place to start. Pick a night when a Flames game is on and head on down to watch it on the big screen. This might create an atmosphere where you might feel comfortable starting small talk by chatting about the game with others guys who are watching the game. Who knows, you might the guy of your dreams.
As for sports bars the only one I can think of is Schanks. I also wonder if there's any sports bar on 17th ave.

Where is The President when you need him?
Seriously, I second the comment about the bar - not a good place to meet people...

I'm the last person who should be giving dating advice--I've been married since 1998. But I want to echo the comment that you might not want to meet men at a bar at all. My advice is to get involved in some activities--a recreational sports team (soccer, floor hockey, baseball) and see if you can meet single men that way. If you like playing pool and are good at it (I'm envious of that, btw) then why not a pool league? Do such things exist? Failing that, a yoga class, or some such thing--all of these are better ways to meet someone that you'll automatically have more in common with than the instant of attraction in a bar--and it sounds to me like that isn't really your style in any case.

Here's your plan:
#1: Propose a CP meet'n'greet at some pub, thereby ensuring high-quality dudehood.
#2: Show up incognito.
#3: Eliminate anyone who
- may be out for the 1st time since the red mile
in '04
- is desperately looking around trying to see if
you, or any other woman, have showed up
- introduces himself by their CP handle
- is likely to get ID'd and then escorted out
- looks like he became familiar with hockey by
playing it with his face
- is already on his sixth beer before the
official start time of the hootenanny
#4: Hopefully there is at least one guy left. Walk over (check for wedding ring), introduce yourself and go from there.
#5 If no guys make the cut, look for the guy who fits all of the above categories and ask HIM out. If nothing else, it'll be a great story to tell your girlfriends later.

Not so much at Telus, and at the Flames... well, it's the Flames. Yes there are hot boys that work there, but as I said, I'm shy and uncomfortable asking them out.

If you are willing to move to Lethbridge, I have a friend who is single... on second thought you're better off single.

Are you saying that good men never go to bars?
