First time I'm not doing Midterms. Now I'm in the working work, doing 80 hours a week including 21 hour shifts.
Midterms was be heaven compared to the grind I'm doing now. Atleast I get money for it though.

Ditto man. Especially as you gradually get closer to your degree, and you have a job already. The motivation just tanks.
I'm in classes with people who are literally beating their books to death. This is the way I see it concerning writing one of my core midterms a couple weeks ago.
You have people who sink 25 hours a week into class on top of 4 hours a week of class itself for 11 weeks. In addition to this they will invest countless hours into that class the week of the midterm itself. They will write that test and likely get 80-90%. An 'A'.
That is 319 hours not including actual midterm specific study time.
I go to 4 hours of class a week. I invest almost 10 hours over the course of the week of the midterm to study. I walk out of that test with 70-80%. A 'B'.
That is 54 hours over the semester. That had better be the best 'A' of your life to have dedicated an additional 265 hours of your life to its pursuit. The marginal benefit simply does not outweigh the marginal cost for me anymore.

Man, I wish I could do it like you. That only works when you're not trying to get into a competitive program after you get your degree. Damn, I envy you.

Thats true. If you have a competitive program to get into then my laziness doesnt work.
I have the option of going that route too, but right now, I need a break. My motivation is seriously waning. Its bad when I skip important classes to go to the Den with my buddies because I am honestly looking for any excuse not to go to class.
Hell, right now I'm supposed to be doing a Case Analysis, but instead I'm on CP. Why? I just dont want to, and I cant find a way to bring myself to do it.

Haha, the lazy B club. I love it. I have figured out the least amount of work that I need to do in each class to achive a 75-80% on each test. I usually put 5 hours towards each midterm to learn the material, and maybe a bit more for the finals, but during the course of the year I do nothing at all. I don't pre-read books or get ahead with my studies by any means. In fact, I have a BSEN 395 midterm tomorrow night that I havn't started studying for, and an ASTR 207 essay due on Thursday that I havn't started and probably won't until Wednesday night.

It does if you want to go to grad school... And the difference between an A and a B can be as simple as doing the assigned questions as you go through the semester. You kid yourself if you think someone puts that much time into every class. 25 hours a week per class is 125hr total per week. I doubt you could find 5 people in an undergrad degree that actually put this much time in.
Up until last year i had a 3.4 average doing literally no work outside of class except a few hours before each test. Since then I have put in maybe an extra 4 hours a week keeping up on questions etc. My GPA over that time is 3.7. Now I understand for some degree's that may not make a difference but in any type of competitive job market it will and it is the difference between being accepted to a good grad school and not getting accepted to any grad school.
PS Im also noticing a trend of how many business students are on CP... Are any other faculties represented in this large a proportion?

I've been out of school for a few years now, but do they still do the fruit flies for that class? I remember getting raped pretty hard in Genetics and Organic Chem, and, although I still passed, I realized that I hated Science, and thus decided to switch over to Management.

Come to the dark side, we are more powerful, I dont care what any Engineer says!
Yeah, lots of Haskayne guys on CP. I'm going to have to be checking over my shoulder when I log on in the computer lab.
BTW, if you're in BSEN 395 at U of C, you'd probably better check your course outline for the midterm, cuz yeah, its on. Tonight I mean.
I'm glad I finished that class a long time ago.

I believe Wil Holden called it the 'Temple of Greed,' maybe Econ or geography majors who have been to some of his classes can elaborate on this.

Yeah, the Temple of Greed, and he called all Haskayne professors "Dick's SoB's."
Holden was hilarious. Killer Econ prof.

Wierd, I assumed most Haskayne classes had all class sections write midterms on the same day. My midterm in a little over an hour is a 10 case study short answer. I'm getting writer's cramp thinking about it.

I thought that phrase was a Larry Wood original. Don't tell me he's been stealing material now!

Hes been there for ever!

Ouch. I'll take my 3 Online open book quizzes over that any day. Do you have to do the admin tribunal assignment too, or is that just a Bowal thing?

Yup, fruit flies. That's why there's still so many flies always flying around the science buildings at the U. I'm so grateful I didn't have to take any chem courses.
