I was going to say, if the Canadian retailers start losing business to the U.S., then that is their own fault.

I still want to know the business logic behind this. If they would sell to Canadians before, why stop now? Theoretically, they should be able to get even more Canadian business since their prices are relatively cheaper for us.

Where will it end?

I hope you meant that tounge and cheek. If not I might have to refer you to a long-winded thread from the summer in which CP argued this one out. That has to be the thread in which I made the most posts.

The average Canadian seems to think there is some rigging going on. The average genius on CP might beg to differ.
I haven't been looking too hard but I really haven't seen any media coverage on the ironic situation of this particular product as it relates to the current complaints about pricing in a high dollar environment.

Because some retailers find that they have a higher proportion of complaints from Canadians than Americans. Often for things outside of the seller's control like customs and shipping costs.

I don't know why shipping and customs would become an issue now. Hell, Ask USPS (or any shipper) how much it costs to ship, and charge the customer that amount. Pass the cost of shipping on to the customer. Let the shipper deal with customs.
If they have never shipped to Canada then I could believe those issues, but to now refuse to sell to Canada just doesn't make sense.

I wanted to buy three books. From Amazon.ca, with free shipping, the total was 60 dollar or so. From Amazon.com, with 16 dollars in shipping, the total cost came to 59 dollars. I bought from Amazon.com despite the longer shipping service.
I think a lot of head offices are asking/forcing American retailers to stop selling to Canadians. We are seeing this with vehicles. It doesn't matter to American companies in terms of profit, but it hurts the Canadian arms of these corporations.

The problem is, a lot of these retailers use UPS and DHL. These private couriers are fine for shipping within the US, but their prices skyrocket when they have to go cross-border, due to their brokerage fees. Since switching to USPS would be a logistical nightmare for some, they opt to not sell to Canada, and avoid the complaints due to gigantic brokerage fees.

Just from being on some eBay forums, they tell me that about 50% of their Canadian customers ask them to lie about the value of the item to avoid customs fees. Not only does that put the insurance in jeopardy, but also many Americans have issues when it comes to lying to gov't officials.
Also in the US as an American shipping to the US, I can go into the post office once per month to get shipping supplies, then just print off a label and have USPS take the fees out of my checking account. Then when the mailman comes on his daily route give him my packages. With international shipping its an extra step; or even an extra trip.
I'm not saying I agree with US sellers not wanting to ship to Canada, I'm just saying I understand how sometimes us Canadians can be a PITA.

Yeah, Oakley is a joke right now. $150USD/$225CDN conversion? Give me a break. The dollar hasn't been 66c USD for 4 or 5 years. Their sales will suffer a bit from this, one would hope.

Thus is one of life's truth's. No one complains of 'rigging' or 'gouging' when prices are low, relatively low, or travelling south. When May comes along and demand increases prompt an increase in pump prices the debate should rev up yet again. Another reason for this is look at the Edmonton par price for light Alberta oil and you'll find that expressed in Canadian Dollars there hasn't been as much upward movement. Hence nothing should be ironic given it should be the expected outcome of currency appreciation.

Expressed in $US Oil and gas companies are seeing 40-50% returns this year. Expressed in Canadian dollars it's just under 20% (Still not bad at all). Now that Crude's above $90, overzealous traders will psychologically push the crude price above $100.

That is who I got my Half-Jacket's through in July ( I found then through their E-Bay store). I received them a week after ordering.

I recently was in the States and bought some stuff that I had to return- they only do returns in cheque form, which sucks because I am going to lose like 20 bucks due to the change in exchange from when I bought the stuff a month ago.
