Providing two terrible options is not a solution to a problem. How about they City's Administration provide at least ONE good solution?
And how do you propose to do that? Plow over Beltline, Inglewood, Kensington and Mount Royal with Elevated freeways?

The alternative is in your response. Transit is horrible for a lot of residents. Well, improve transit service (particularly capacity - which is much easier to increase compared to roads), design communities that are more conducive to transit use, create Bridges-style TODs around LRT stations, and voila!

According to the Herald on Sunday, he stands accused of stealing about $24 million on his way out of Kenya. The article also said he left Kenya under a death threat.

Definitely will not be voting for him after reading that article.

He is campaigning for a northbound C-Train to what I am assuming is the Country Hills etc. area of town. www.votejim.ca

I found a Herald article dated Sept 18:

Quote:
There's a much longer history to Kassam, who fled Kenya in 1993 with the law at his heels for his involvement in the country's greatest banking scandal. He was a principal of Trade Bank, as well as Diner's Club. A huge inquiry over government subsidy of exports focused on the fate of the bank. Kenyan officials have said he's welcome to return, as long as he coughs up $23 million Cdn he's alleged to have taken with him. Kassam insists he didn't take a penny, noting that a Canadian immigration tribunal ruled in his favour. He has freely told me, though, that he used to leave briefcases full of cash behind when he visited government ministers, and engaged in illegal currency trading. Kassam is disarming when he's asked about all this. "Oh yes, I did that," he said last last October, referring to the bribery. "We all did. We had to. That was the political culture, entirely without ethics or honesty. "It's not excusable, some of the things I did, but now I can sit back and reflect on what I did wrong and try to make it right."

The fix for downtown driving chaos and parking are are combination of better transit and toll booths.

In Ward 3, I saw some signs with a URL to a website on why NOT to vote for Helene Laroque...can't remember the URL though, does anyone here know? I get a cheap kick out of smear campaigns.

Actually they have a perfect plan that is in place now. Any place that currently has parking will be turned into an office tower. With no possible parking then no one will drive downtown. Problem solved.

Someone posted a link to "The Better Calgary" website. (http://bettercalgary.ca/endorsements.php#ward3) After reading that I am even more in favor of Chahal. Check out his answers to the survey, I think they are really good. He wants the C-Train extended to Saddleridge immediately. (that would be awesome for me!). He says there is a need for mass transit to the northern hills communities as well.

So, I don't want to read all the stuff from before, because we all know how easily we go OT on this stuff. Could one of you point out some key posts in this thread to read?
I have no clue who to vote for. I have a couple issues with Noor, and can't really find issues with Dave because all the info I can find on him is very vague

Fine with me. The less pimped trucks, SUV's the better.

Hmmmm that must be the guy who keeps on emailing me. Question: is he royalty, and does he need to borrow $5 grand to help move his funds out of the country?

Anyone else keep getting candidates knocking on your door Saturday mornings? Don't these people know Saturday is a sleep day? The last guy got me with no shirt, a pair of shorts, and my hair all matted up because I was in bed. He kept asking if he was interrupting something.....yeah, MY SLEEP JACKASS.

I just cannot vote for someone in favour of legalized basement suites. It's just not feasible for my community. And since you are from Saddleridge, I bet the parking crunch in your neighborhood is just as bad?

How is it not feasible? Are there no basements in your neighbourhood?

I live in a townhouse complex and the parking is already terrible. The road inside our complex is skinny and when people park on the side of the road it is very difficult to maneuver between the parked cars. I am sure that if there was an emergency a fire truck would not fit. But that doesn't really have anything to do with the basement suite issue...

I'm actually for legalized basement suites. There is a severe lack of affordable housing in this town. If its gets the working homeless into a suite they can afford then I can live with the inconvenience. If the average family only owned one or two cars it probably wouldn't be a big deal.
