American Gangster
How cool does this movie look? Directed by Ridley Scott and stars
Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. I think this is the first time Scott and Crowe have teamed up since Gladiator.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/univer...angangster/hd/
Comes out Nov. 2
From what I've been reading it also will feature an original soundtrack from Jay Z.

They did "A Good Year" together but it is understandable that you would not remember that. It certainly isn't a movie that either one should want people to associate them with.

I actually liked that flick. I saw it on the Movie Channel when I was at home deathly ill and in between posts on CP.
Not oscar winning stuff obviously, but not a slam-dunk Razzie either.

I herd that Jay-Z was making an album called American Gangster, but it is an album inspired by the movie but not the actual soundtrack.

Ya I gathered that with further reading too. The song you hear in the trailer is on the album.

I think the guy is a great actor. His job in Man on Fire was amazing.
Still, I can't help watching this trailer and thinking this movie is going to suck out loud. It looks horrible.

If the trailer you speak of is the one I saw tonight on heroes and in the movie theatre a few months back, then the song is called "heart of the city (ain't no love), and it was released on "The Blueprint" an album Jay-Z released in 2001.

If you mean awesome as in the one time he played a role differently than the other 50 films he's been in, then maybe. Maybe Rob Schnieder will earn an oscar inomination if he ever gets to play a recovering-alcoholic-single dad-recently diagnosed with cancer.

I agree, I like Denzel but Im not too pumped to see this one at all.
Also not to change the subject, but what Im about to say isnt worthy of its own thread so I thought I'd just cram it in here. Saw The Kingdom yesterday. Out of five people I went with, I was the only one who liked it so take it with a grain of salt, but I thought it was a great movie. I agree with what my buddies said; that it cant decide if it wants to be an action movie or a political movie, and its a little "flag-waving" if you know what I mean. But if you forget all that and just go watch it as a good, popcorn action movie I think you'd like it. I really enjoyed it.
Loved the Mid East history rundown at the start too...

Put me in the definately will see this movie.
How can you not like the actor from Training Day, Malcom X, Man on Fire?
Come on. He might be a little black nationalistic but if I was black in North America I would probably be as well.

I really hate this argument, how has his role been the same in 50 movies?? How is role in Malcolm X and similar to the one in Crimson Tide? how is He Got Game and man on Fire similar??? How is Manchurian Candidate and Glory similar?? How is Virtusoity and The Hurricane similar?? This argument holds zero merit whatsoever, Denzel has done quite the selection of challenging roles and he delivers each performance differently. Sometimes, he alone cant save a movie, John Q comes to mind, that was dreadful. But you can't tell me that he plays each role the same way and if you do, gimme examples, otherwise your above post makes no sense.

Maybe you are thinking of Will Smith. He plays the same role in almost every movie. His character is always a renegade (typically a cop or ex cop) that plays by his owns rules, has a troubled past, cool calm and collected, ladies man, and is out to prove someone wrong.
