Across the Universe
Anyone else looking forward to seeing this? I've seen the trailer twice on the big screen and now several times on DVD rentals. It's really well done. I get goosebumps everytime. Looks extremely interesting. Anyone agree?

Very excited to see this thread...I cannot wait for this movie. I accidently found the preview last year looking for beatles info. Ingenius idea for a film, and it looks to be very well done. And with the fear of taking flack from the this site...the jude character has a voice I am beyond jealous of.

Saw this film last night. Anyone else seen it?
Highly recommended to any Beatles' fans, even casual ones like myself. Usually I'm put off by singing (and especially dancing) in movies, but I thought this was well done. Story was good and the music made it even better.

I'll agree with BlackEleven and generally enjoyed it however there were some parts that I thought just didn't belong or add to the overall film.
Definately would recommend for a look...at least a rental with the missus.

The reason why you can't find it much is that it's still in limited release in theaters. It's getting a full release on Oct. 12th.

Great flick, I loved it. It was fun playing Find The Reference through the whole movie too.
The movie really made me realize how much I dont like Bonos singing tho.
Sadly, the Soundtrack only has like, half the songs from the movie for some reason. Pretty lame, that.

Going to see it tonight. Will give my review upon my return.
Ya, kind of weird the soundtrack has the collections of songs that it does.

This was a great movie IMO.
It's not a musical in the traditional sense -- they don't break out into dance routines (OK, maybe 1) -- it's more a great movie in and about the culture of the 60's with an amazing soundtrack that the characters sing along to.
Gaah, even that's not a very good description. If you think you'd like a movie, as I said, in and about the culture of the 60's, and love the music of the times, especially the Beatles, just go and see the movie. It's got a few unnecessary scenes that slow it down a little, but over all it's very, very good.
And if you don't like it, Kevin Guy will reimburse your ticket price!

Well just got back from watching it... at least most of it. I have yet to see the end because the projector lamp went black just as "Hey Jude" started. &^$&$. At least I got a free pass.
As for the movie, I highly recommend. I had to beg a friend of mine to come along as all of em thought it looked stupid. Well, they were wrong and my friend ended up liking it. Can't add much to what was said above, just loved how they tied in all the songs into the storyline.
edit: As a further note to the soundtrack, if you want to buy it hold off for now. A 2-cd deluxe version will be or already is available... apparently only at best buy? If only I had known earlier. http://www.amazon.com/Across-Univers...1481489&sr=8-2

Was glad that I didn't buy it. I'll wind up buying the Deluxe version though.
What's the point of even releasing a version with only half the songs? And that's missing half of the most popular songs in favor of more obscure material? Damn marketing b.s.

That sucks bigtime. There's only about 10 minutes left after that. If you don't want to sit through 2 hours again to see the last 10 minutes let me know and I'll PM you what happens.

Nah, that's ok. I might go back and see it again anyways. Perhaps this time there won't be a bunch of kids giggling everytime they break into a song. "he he he he, they look so stupid". Why see a movie if you think it's stupid?
