Jets have all the makings of a winner: 1 C (schiefele), 1D (Morrissey), Elite 1 G (Hellebuyck), Gamebreaking goalscoring threat (Connor) and some young guys overperforming contracts (Perfetti, Vilardi.)

They are in an enviable position.

Not sure I follow, with the deadline almost 8 weeks away.

Why would the Flames make the move now?

If he is traded

Did you expect an imminent trade? Especially with the dad's trip, I think it was safe to expect nothing until this week at the earliest

They are in an enviable position.
They were there 5 years ago with younger core players and as many up and comers and really did not attack the trade market very aggressively.

Now they might this time similar to Trrliving in 2021 vs how he was in 2018. But Chevy tends to be very cautious, and seems well aware that drafting is an organizational strength. I'm not sure he has the guts to all out go for it because if they were to lose in round two, he'd be under a lot of fire.

If anything Chevy could use the state of the team today as a proof point for his steady and patient approach.
I think getting a high pick or quality prospect out of him, will be tough.

And to think there was a drum beat out of Winnipeg to run Schiefele out of town.

If there's a team I care less about than the Jets I don't know what it is. Maybe Columbus.

They are in an enviable position.
Yet up until this season the narrative was similar to the Flames in that Scheifele wasn't a true elite number 1 center and wasn't good enough defensively, and that Morrissey wasn't a true number 1 dman.

I think the Jets just show that patience is key and you need to continuously build a team over the long term.

It's unfortunate that Gaudreau / Tkachuk decided to leave because really the Flames would likely be in a similar position if they still had those two...but were adding pieces like Zary, Pelletier, Coronato etc to the roster to compliment them.

Yeah. Probably one of the 5 least interesting teams in the NA pro leagues. AHL teams are more interesting.

Bowness hockey is the worst.

However, if they can stifle Bumonton then they have my support. But only as far as that.

Absolutely. Definitely at the bottom of the NHL rankings, and therefore probably at the bottom of all North American sports rankings.

Why are you here?
- Minnesota
- Buffalo
- Columbus
- Winnipeg (at the bottom because they mix “why are you here” forgettable-ness with dweeby “pick me!” fans)

Laughing stock:
- Arizona

100% Trash:
- Edmonton

Funny thing is in 2012-2013 people used to say the same thing about the Sabres and Oilers when compared to the Flames

How much of this observation is due to league wide NTCs?

I would have to assume that any player with a NTC has Winnipeg on their list. Very limiting in what one can do, hence strong drafting.

I hate the Jets less than I hate all the other Canadian teams. Them and Ottawa.

So I'm fine with them being good. If anything, it's respectable that they made their team with drafting and developing rather than lottery wins and free agency.

I think I care less about many of the Southern teams, especially the ones who can't even get their own fans interested unless it's a deep playoff run.
