This group is self-evidently not very good, by the standards of the modern NHL.
The new building is coming - there’s no need to spend $85M a year on this team right now.

Those are reasons you think Edwards will listen to Conroy more than any others?

Was that Conroy and Iggy, or was it the team being terrible to start after going all in with a dogs*** hand that he thought was competitive? Hard to go by rumors but it seems like they were on board with double/tripling down with insanely horrible contracts until after the terrible start.

Yes.
Edwards signs off on rebuilds when he has no other option. He did it in 2013 and he has no choice now.

Who do you imagine told Conroy to do that?

So he signs onto rebuilds when he has no other choice or because Conroy and Iggy say so. You seem to be saying different things in this thread.

I was looking through the old Tkachuk trade thread from last year to see what I wrote and came across this gem of a post. I guess the youtube guy was right! How crazy was that!

No, I’m not.
Someone has to get the man to see the light.
It was Feaster in 2012/13. Sold Iggy and Bouw even after signing Hudler and Wideman in the summer.
It’s Conroy and Iggy now.
Edwards was never going to let Treliving oversee a rebuild.

Ok which gets back to the original point why?
What evidence do you have he will listen to Conroy and Iggy, let them do a rebuild but wouldn’t let Treliving?
You are saying ge has no choice now which I agree with but that isn’t because he is listening to Iggy and Conroy but because he has no choice. Just like he didn’t listen to Feaster at all in 2013. He just had no choice.

Because I don’t think Conroy and Iggy are here to bet it all on Lindholm, Hanifin and Huberdeau.
All Conroy had to do was say “we’ll try it your way first, and if it doesn’t look like it’s gonna work, we pivot.”
And everything that’s happened in the last two months makes me think I’m right.
He wouldn’t let Treliving rebuild because Treliving failed to keep Gaudreau and Tkachuk. Or acquire Eichel. Or Stone. He was out of chances.
Guesses, of course.

Hmm. The only reason Hanifin isn’t signed because Hanifin wanted to wait to put pen to paper after agreeing to money and term. . Rumour has it lindholm was offfered $8.3 million and said no I want $9 million. As of right now Conroy is very very lucky they didn’t both jump at the contracts. Hope he makes the most of his 2nd chance.

I don’t disagree that he’s very lucky both players refused what he was offering.
But if it seems like Conroy is being inconsistent, I think it’s because he tried it the owners way first. He made good faith offers to both guys. They don’t wanna secure the bag, that’s their issue.
I think he was also smart enough to get a commitment from Edwards that if this group continued to be a bottom ten team, they would change course.
I might be wrong.

Kadri won't waive to go back to Colorado, I am confident if that.

From what I have heard you have the first part backward. Hanifin was absolutely going to put pen to paper when the Flames pulled back.

Interesting. Definitely sounded like he backed out via one of the talking heads. He backed out and then when he circled back Flames were out. .

I hope all the UFA'S get traded but I also hope the team has at least approached markstrom and Coleman about waiving for a trade..
They need to at least make 1 move soon, it'll show the direction they're going and also help with draft position.

News out of Toronto from Kypreos is that he's hearing that Tre and Nylander's camp are close to an extension at around 11.25 x 8. A fair price for an elite player.
