He has been a little underwhelming, but big defensemen often take a while to come into their own. If it was a buy low scenario, I'd take a flyer on him.

Brian Burke confirmed that Treliving had significant interest in Ristolainen and that Chris Snow (and the analytics department) had talked him out of it.

Stanley is huge, but he's one of those guys that is never in the mix when he should be. Like coming to the defense of a teammate. Has also been injury prone.

Treliving worked and works the phones like no other apparently. But the amount of poor decisions that he makes when it comes to free agents and needing to get the fish he wants, is astounding. He has one year or so to get it right. I think after that, he's going to shoot himself in the foot by having too many stupid contracts around, that he'll have to look for value for his top lines, just like he did here. It doesn't work out. The guy just can't handle the cap world. Reeves and Klingberg were terrible signings and that's just a few months in. Next year when he feels the need to plug a hole or two, he'll sign other inflated FAs to longer term deals, and that'll be the beginning of the end.
