Oh yeah forgot about Harley, in my mind he was a higher pick than he was. He was a pretty obvious guy to bet on succeeding in the pros quickly. Real good pick again there.

I’m interested to see if they end up getting anything out of Bichsel, he’s interesting.

Flames should be making 25-30+ picks in the next 3 drafts.

As of right now they have 18 picks in the next three drafts. That's a 3 pick deficit.

An 8-10-3 team that is up against the cap and won a total of 1 playoff series in the last 8 years should not currently have a draft pick deficit.

60/40 chance Dan clears waivers right now

I don't know. He probably slips through waivers. I haven't looked at who needs goalies....in particular a goalie with decent High Danger save percentage but really bad non-high danger numbers. Oilers are only team i can think of that donates high danger chances at a high rate that needs a goalie.

I like the logic here, Flames should definitely be prioritizing picks along with young guys that can hopefully contribute sooner than later.

Steinberg has been talking a lot about trading for potential defensemen like Clarke in LA, Zellweger in Anaheim, and others. The more I hear that the more I'm on board. A mixture of high picks and prospects would be a home run for trades involving Lindholm and Hanifin. I think Tanev and Zadorov trades should probably just be for picks.

I'm still not convinced that Brandt Clarke could be had out of LA just because of the draft pedigree but if that kind of offer is out there for a highly touted prospect I'd support that 100%.

I imagine he is waiting for a team to actually want to acquire Vladar.

Is there any reason to think that teams out there are rushing to bring him in right now, let alone give anything, even a 7th round pick, to do so?

He doesn't look like he is the answer to anyone's goaltending issues at this point in the season with the way he has played.

to be clear, I meant 60% chance he clears. Maybe it's higher as you suggest.

Yeah I think Clarke is a big reach. I think LA considers him part of their core going forward.
Anaheim is an interesting target because they simply have too many d prospects, and too many that are the same type. I think Zellweger would be tough to get but Tristan Luneau would be a good guy to try and get. That's the guy that may be more obtainable.

Vladar is 32-16 as a backup. He has some value.

Scoot along, troll.

The toxicity in here is totally staggering. Like a massive bozo eruption. Yeah_baby is definitely not moon, lol. Troll accusations flying like rounds in a spaghetti western.

Vladar may have a decent w/l record as a backup, but his numbers this year are pretty bad. He was top 10 on that recent "worst goalies by stats" list this season (only a week ago, I think athletic put it out.)

I think it's totally reasonable to speculate on if someone claims him. There are enough bad tendies that someone might, but I feel 60/40 is a fair guessing game on that one.

I think TrentCrimmIndependent was referring to Spurs with that, but I do feel that it is fair to question whether anyone would claim Vladar on waivers. If he was a free agent right now would anyone come knocking with a 2x$2.2M offer?

He is obviously talking about Spurs...the biggest troll on the site

that being said Dan has been terrible...he makes the odd miraculous save but its usually because he is wildly out of position in the first place

Arizona, Carolina, Columbus, New Jersey are all teams whose backups are underperforming their starters and might want to try something new.

At this point, Columbus is probably at the point where they're okay throwing in the towel on the season and New Jersey is probably getting close to that point. Even then, Columbus might take a gamble on Vladar to see if he's a fit, especially if Gaudreau and Gudbranson have good things to say about him.

Carolina is an interesting one because I think they could be a potential destination for Markstrom if Conroy decided to go in that direction.

I think asking who wants Vladar? or who's going to pay enough to make it worth Calgary's while are fair questions. It's hard to see him as a difference maker for anyone. Maybe that changes with injuries and if a team gets more desperate.

Vladar is the latest iteration of Rittich. If they could get back a 3rd I'd be happy at this point.

Also if the Flames are entertaining the idea of trading Markstrom they probably want to keep Vladar around

for now
