I like PoolParty, and I don’t think he’s terrible like some on here would say, but starting late after a double hip surgery spells doom for him, at least for this season. He’s in an impossible situation, IMO.

Given the Oilers history of mishandling players, especially when it comes to injuries, it's possible they were forcing him to play when he wasn't fit.

I think that Bear is the better target of the 2. Puljujarvi hasn't looked too great with the Canes. Not sure if it was due to injuries.

Puljujarvi's hockey IQ is in the toilet. And quite frankly everytime I think about him I imagine him eating a pizza with his mouth open. So maybe it's not just his hockey sense that's missing.

I don't see room for him in Calgary.
Deuhr is better in a fourth line role, Coleman is the better all around player, Shaggy has the better track record and Coronato has way higher potential.
No point in bringing him in if you are going to be swapping him in and out of the press box.

so the Oilers can't ice a proper lineup under the cap...BEFORE Drai's salary almost doubles
2 years max boys, hold the line...the fall of the Oilers will be incredible

I could see McDavid being convinced to stay in Edmonton...if they somehow can build some momentum (their prospect base says: probably not)
...I don't see Draisaitl sticking around.
When Draisaitl hits UFA in 2025, the salary cap is likely to be $92,058,750.
I imagine Matthews latest extension that took 15.87% of the salary cap will be grown on.
Draisaitl @ 16.5%: $15.189M.
I'd bank on Draisaitl landing $15M+ easily, so your "doubling" seems pretty likely.
Rangers? Blackhawks big spend to help Bedard? It'd be pretty funny to see Draisaitl raise a Cup with Bedard after years of not being able to do so with McDavid in Coilerville.

I think keeping Draisaitl is the only way the Oilers can keep McDavid. All I heard this summer is how they were inseparable and I believe Draisaitl even stayed and trained in Toronto in the offseason? Edmonton fans are convinced that since they hired McDavid’s of agent as President the Oilers are a lock to keep these guys together for their careers. If they can’t win a cup this year or next I am not sure they are able to pull it off.

McDavid toiling away in Edmonton into his 30s without draisaitl there would be just sad for the game.
Because you know Edmonton won't develop talent anywhere near Leon for the duration of his extension. So he would be dragging a worse team through the mud to a first round exit on a good year with a declining RNH and Hyman, an even mire useless Nurse, and absence of young talent from their run of years trading picks away.
If Edmonton has any love at all for the game, they'll set McDavid free. Let the man get some sunlight and rehab.

Draisaitl may be the most unlikable player in the game, but McDavid is well up there – personality of a bag of organic fertilizer. I couldn't care less if he never wins anything. The Stanley Cup seems perfectly happy without his name on it, and the game will go on with or without him.

That’s why I find it funny that the Rangers are rumoured to be waiting to snap up McDavid or Draisatl. Those guys aren’t exactly Big Apple personalities. This wouldn’t be Messier injecting a shot of charisma and championship pedigree into the franchise - it would be a mopey, mumbling superstar collecting a fat cheque.

McDavid wishes he had the charisma of Crosby or Bedard. He may go down as the best player to never win anything one day if he stays on the Oilers.

I don't know that much about him except that he's tough as nails but not a great skater. Decent, but not great. So he does get beat occasionally.

I am very confident from what I have heard from multiple people that McDavid will not be staying in Edmonton past this contract, agent and Draisaitl be damned. They will spend the big money to keep Draisaitl as he is much more likely to extend.

I can really see him going somewhere larger where he can also be a little more anonymous.

I think even if the Oilers won a cup (barf), McDavid would leave.
He'd head out like LeBron did from Cleveland. Got you a championship, now I need to try something new.

Now I wanna know who these people are that you talked to. If they’re right, make sure to send them a fruit basket the day he leaves

I acquaintance told me once over beers that if McDavid retired or left he'd just stop watching the Oilers because he'll never see another player like him again. If anyone wonder what they think of him up here.
