Hope we aren’t disappointed next week. “We had numerous discussions with a number of teams, but nothing made sense.”

I recall reading they did have some trade offers on the table for their ufas. So I'm guessing they already have a rockin solid grasp of returns for each of their pending FAs
That 1 sec214 had about Dallas has stuck in my brain since I read it. Feels like something Conny would do if they could snag Johnston

I can kind of see a reality where we're let down.
They still have a year left on these guys.
If lindolm re-signs, are they crazy enough to keep most of them and go for it one last time.
I ####ing hope not.
Either way I think atleast 2 guys are gone around the draft. We need cap either way and it Sounds like toffoli has specifically requested a trade out.

If Lindholm re-signs then I think it shifts the trades from rebuild to retool.

Cold, miserable winters. Hot, dry summers that result in fires and smoke. Throw in the abysmal politics and it's really easy to see why. Outside of all that, you require a winning culture to make it palatable. And, well...*gestures broadly*.

Out of all the trade scenarios, the ones where the Flames make a deal with Seattle and land Wright are right up there for me. I want a Seattle trade to happen.

Hope it's that if they go full on rebuild that Marky is on the block and the Flames plan to run with Vladar and Wolf next year

I do think Wolf should get an opportunity to be the backup next year but, under a rebuild scenario, it might be a good idea to keep Markstrom to protect the young goalie. Put him out there for 60 games and the rest for Wolf. Seems like promising young goalies can be derailed in their development playing on a team that gets shelled every night - for example: Demko and Hart. I guess Vladar could take the brunt of starts in Markstrom’s place though.

Hopefully this is a wake up call for everyone that this isn’t 1990 anymore . If anything the Flames need to invest more in the little things then more attractive destinations , not less

Oh? Are any of these players actually any good?

Edmonton is incredible at attracting fantastic players that they then want to buy out 1-2 years later.

One can only dream, but imagine if we could somehow acquire Wright and Lafreniere...

Evander Kane is a 0.8 PPG player in 84 games as an Oiler, and Edmonton’s won more playoff games in the 18 months he’s been there than the previous entirety of the Wondertwin era.
Hyman is quality nearly 0.9 PPG averaging 31 goals a year.
Nugent Hopkins scored 100 points last year.
Campbell was at least decent before he had a terrible year.
And both McDavid and Draisaitl signed 8-year deals.
Situation is everything.

+ 13 + Rosen and we can talk.
What about this, since Buffalo’s weakness is goal and Marky is Lindholm’s mate…
Lindholm - extended
Markstrom - $1M retained
Cozens
Comrie
Rosen
1st
I dunno, just spitballing.
Buffalo is weird, they don’t have a ton I want, even Cozens.

All the Oilers can score 100 points. That doesn't make them any good. Kanes best offer was from Edmonton. Campbells best offer was from Edmonton. Hymans best offer was from Edmonton. Thats free agency. If Arizona goes Toffoli the best offer in free agency thats where he going.
