Complaining about an insider being a phony has big "why do you play the lottery, don't you know the odds of winning?" energy.
Eklund, Seravalli, Dreger, Bobby Margs, Friedman, whatever.
Insiders are fun because you get to distract yourself with a few minutes of day dreaming about "what if". If they're right, it's a bonus.
Let people enjoy things.

A bold claim.
TJ Brodie was being bought out Mitch Love was going to be the coach.
Insider is being nice to him he's more Eklund throwing stuff out without fac checking it seems.
We also have good and respected insiders like Pierre Lebrun, Chris Johnston, Elliote when he isn't being annoying.
|
Dude……..who cares?
You complaining about Frank Seravelli is like someone complaining about who the host of Entertainment Tonight is.

Considering how Eklund was mocked and vilified for years for making stuff up the recent attitude of “ehh it’s cool whatever anyone can say stuff forget about it” by a seemingly large portion of the fanbase is an interesting turn of events. What changed?

To me serivalli is paparazzi level. There's a place in the world for him, on the grocery store checkout aisle shelves. It sells even if it's fiction. "BATBOY STOLE MY CHICKENS!"

…people complaining in the rumour threads about rumours. Just be quiet about it - nobody else in the entire world cares what your opinions of Frank, Pierre, Friedman, Sec214, or dissentower are. Just shut up about it already. Page after page after page, ay caramba!

I appreciate the info Seravalli provides but he comes across as smarmy and unlikable compared to Bobby Mac, LeBrun, Johnston, etc. Wish he was a little more classy and professional

Am I crazy to think a hanifin deal is being held back by the (LMAO) Erik Karlsson sweepstakes?

I don’t think so. A hanifin deal is being held back by poor offers. Diss said olofsson and a 3rd from Buffalo, who appear to have moved on. Pittsburgh offering a rumored futures package who have since signed graves and look to be in on karlsson.
Sec said the market changed when the rfas who weren’t qualified and added extra pools to the mix. When players are being given away for free, hard to get value in that kind of market. Maybe we will look back and say we should have taken the olofsson package. Who knows.
Have to hope that there is a team out there that loves the player. I’m holding out hope Boston is one of those teams, as sweeney has interest in the player dating back to his draft year and he’s a local kid. Frustrating as hell as if the player doesn’t want to be here long term, can’t be good at all for locker room dynamics.
Picked the wrong year to have players on expiring deals and a tight cap/buyers market. Hopefully we can get this sorted out in the coming days/weeks.

It’s not 75% retained through Arizona for a Foegele, Malone, and a 5th?

Wait, did you ever read an Eklund rumour with a straight face? From my early hockey browsing days Eklund rumours and the posters that perpetuated them into legitimacy by discussing absolute made up bull**** was 100x more detrimental to hockey discussion than posters pointing out that he's a fraud and to please stop discusses his bull****.

Seravelli may be annoying, but he’s an accredited member of the media who has genuine contacts around the league and is regarded as credible enough to be a paid contributor for major sports outlets. Eklund, as far as I can tell, is just some anonymous dude in a bathrobe making stuff up for page hits.

I think the point stands that Frank can come across as a smarmy know it all, particularly regarding the Flames.
His "Rogers Place is sooo much louder than the Saddledome, and it isn't even close comment" during the playoffs is something he repeated with glee, and recently with Matthew Phillips getting a two-year contract offer from the Flames, without providing any context to what the offer Phillips turned down.
I listen to his hits in other markets, and he doesn't come across that way. I don't know what his issue is with the Flames -- maybe the front office called him out on something, and we don't know about it.
I'd rather listen to Chris Johnston; Sportsnet misses him. Elliotte Friedman is OK. Although you have to chuckle at him prefacing nearly every piece of information with, "I get the sense/feeling..."

But even Duha on Kerr’s podcast last week admitted to making up trade proposals just to do his job.
Maybe this, possibly that. They all cover their asses a fair bit. Friedge and Marek constantly do that. They basically say nothing when you take the conditions out.
Compare that to Frabrizio Romano in soccer who scoops almost every deal in European soccer. We deserve a better quality of insider.

The professionals always make it clear whether they’re speculating, or reporting on a deal that their sources report is in the works. A lot of fans seem unable to distinguish between the two, but that’s their own fault.
