SJ Sports Radio: Erik Karlsson has had as many as 9 teams inquire on him. 3-4 offers already on the table. Sticking point is a lot of teams have asked for 50 percent retention but Grier is only doing 3 M or so which is a hold up.

Holland: Yamamoto for sure and Kostin most likely will not be back as Oilers. Kostin is looking for around 1.75-2 M per season.

My thoughts: Wouldn't be surprised if another Canadian team (Vancouver or Calgary) gets Kostin.

At that price I'd take Kostin. Bring in another Russian for Zad and Sharangovich

Players who are able to pull the responsibility of a first line Centre don't grow on trees. Right now the Flames don't have that kind of player in the locker room, or prospect pool. I understand why they want to keep him. Trading Lindholm would be the demarcation of a full rebuild and would need to include a pick high enough to draft a C with top line potential. That or we wait until next year to bring that prospect in knowing it will probably be a high lottery pick.

Kostin is definitely worth getting. Just not sure the Oilers would be willing to trade him to Calgary.

Maybe if the Flames took Yamamoto off their hands too. Which I don't think is a bad idea if they move another one of the big cap hits off in a trade.
