I had mine done in mid September. The procedure sucked but the rest of the day wasn't too bad. Of course I kept ice on it most of the day. The next week I was very uncomfortable and had some pain. The pain lessened for me but it was still there for WEEKS afterward. I couldn't do anything really active. The gym was a no go for sure as the pain, although not excruciating, was always there. Then, about two weeks ago, it pretty much went away. Now I have some numbness on the left side of my ball bag but otherwise I'd say I'm almost pain free at this point. I guess I'm one of the small percentage with a horor story albeit a brief one.
All in all I'm glad I did it but I wouldn't want to go through the last three months again that's for sure.

Thanks again for all the help with this.
Finally decided on Vasman and officially booked the appointment. Day after Valentines!
Side note: I was Googling for someone who cost only $100 instead of the $200 and came across this fella. He only charges $100 after AHC costs but something about him holding a wiener dog on his website really disturbed me and we just went with the $200 Vasman.
My buddy and I are getting this done same day. A weird show of bromance and we are making a full day out of it and going to slam a few beer afterwards.
So, one last question: Do you think we will be up to actually going for some beer (I am very ok with hitting the bar with an ice pack on my boys) or will I just want to lay down in bed all day after that?

That guy is creepy. I wouldn't let him touch my nuts. I let the old guy from vasectomycalgary.com do it. Painless on the left side. Previous injuries on the right side made it brutally painful on the right side.

Do not go to the bar after, take your Tylenol and go home and lie flat and ice the boys.

Why would you voluntary subject yourself to pain, and ruin future chances of being fertile?
Seems like a double negative to me.
Then again, maybe all it takes is one evil kid.

I had my visit with Vasman today. What would normally have been a very awkward moment of having a dude stare at and fondling your nuts was actually a lot less weird than one would think. He was an awesome guy and we just chatted about the NHL. You could tell he was good at making people feel a lot easier about being there.
As for the procedure itself: The freezing felt like someone snapping an elastic band on the sac. When he explained it, it sounded a lot worse that it ended up being. I feel like I tensed up a lot more and that in itself hurt more than the freezing.
First side went off without a hitch. Other side, apparently he had a tough time doing something and it was uncomfortable for sure. I had taken some prior meds in anticipation of pain and they helped a lot when my buddy and I were having drinks post procedure and his freezing wore off. Yes, we did go for drinks. It wasn't necessarily comfortable, but still not a reason to avoid having a beer with your friend.
Overall, I wouldn't classify it as fun at all but it was a LOT less dramatic as I had anticipated.
Thanks again for all the advice. Especially to those who said not to worry about it and I didn't listen to. I wish I had not worried about it as much as I did. Piece of cake!

Bump for getting my V card.
Oddly I had the exact same experience as somebody else, where the left side didn't freeze properly. Quite a strong pinch, but once I alerted him he just did a quick re-freeze. I thought a good comparison was made when somebody mentioned they've had a dentist needle hurt more. I would grade the experience as more uncomfortable than painful.
I was a little surprised by the amount of smoke. I was told it would be a little plume. I would describe it as an aggressive smoke signal from your nuts requesting help.
Oddly my pain isn't very typical based on what I'm reading. I had a pretty strong burning for the entire day immediately after the procedure, but since I woke up the following day I've felt relatively nothing. I'm not pushing things very hard at all and being very lazy. Perhaps that's helping.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be ejaculation-free for 3 days before handing in your sample. This thread is pretty old, but I hope that didn't screw with your results.

A good friend of mine got a vasectomy two weeks ago and proposed to the mother of his children today. Seriously, your getting married! Your not going to have anymore sex now anyways, so why bother!? Lol

Hey guys, bumping this thread as its been a few years and I plan on getting this done within the next 4-6 weeks. I've read through this whole thread and would like to hear some more recent suggestions. Seeing a lot of positives from the Vasman and leaning towards going there but would like to hear from others.
Thanks
