They have 2 solid NHL players on that team in Taveres and Okposo, outside of them it's an AHL team. De Haan was drafted high and doesn't look good, goaltending is garbage and they are lacking any quality on the 2nd. 3rd and 4th line. That franchise is in shambles, they cycle through prospects and trade them away before the player develops. It has been like that since the late 90's and things haven't changed a bit. How much of a chance did they give Niedereitter? Strome might be fine but he needs someone to play with. It will take more than a few veterans to turn things around and I can't see anyone wanting to play for the owner or the GM. I think that Tavares will be leaving after his contract is up and the rebuild will continue for another 15 years. Worst run franchise in the NHL, makes the Oilers look good.
Nielsen? Grabner? Plus bottom 6 forwards in Clutterbuck, Bailey, Martin. Strome, Lee, and Nelson coming through. Goals aren't an issue they are still 15th in the league.
D and G is their problem. But Snow has to go and same with Wang.

NYI and Florida have the easiest schedules for games remaining.
Oilers next four games are against the Kings, Wild, Blues, and Wings so expect four losses but the two after that are against two teams that are tanking in the Hurricanes and Nashville so it would be nice for those to be 3 point games although the way those two teams are playing the Oilers should be able to get 4 points relatively easy and I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

What they have plenty of fine 3rd/4th liners. Grabner, Nielsen, Csikas, Clutterbuck are all perfect guys to have for your 3rd and 4th lines.
The problem they have is outside of Tavares they have zero players who can create their own offense. Okposo and Moulson could convert when Tavares created for them but put them on a line without him and they are duds.
The Isles rely so much on Tavares for creating offense that their 2nd line is garbage and secondary guys useless if Tavares isn't setting things up for them.
I would say likewise defensively Hamonic, De Haan and Hickey look good if they can be the 3rd, 4th and 5th guys but with no top end guys to play the toughest minutes and be the studs back there those 3 guys are asked to do too much.
The goaltending is horrific and a complete mess. But that is what happens when you go with Dipietro as the guy and then try to fix that by blocking an old man from going where he wants and thinking he can be the solution in net.

Assuming Edmonton doesn't finish last, could the Berra 2nd be enough to trade up from 3-4 to 1 and draft Ekblad? Basically, could Burke have just traded Berra for Ekblad?

It would almost be like a flashback to 1999.
"Oh you'll trade down on the condition we won't take Patrick Stefan? Sure we just want the Sedins. Go nuts with Stefan."
Not saying Reinharts going to be a Stefan of course.

It would take more than that.
Each year and situation is different of course (last year it would have cost much more to move up, for instance) but there are some quantitative rules of thumb out there.

No.
Anything is possible but hard to imagine a team would want to move from 1st to 4th when for the most part people are talking about this being a 3 player draft.
Perhaps you could make a deal with a team that if their guys is there at 4 they will move who they picked at 1 for 4 and something else but it is going to take more than a mid-2nd round pick.
I would think you would be looking at our 1st, our 2nd and likely another 2nd and 3rd and possibly Baertschi to make the move.
Teams rarely trade 1st overall picks and it makes little sense for a team to do it and risk not getting the guy they like best in the draft for a mid-2nd round pick like the Avs pick will likely be.

The Kingston Whig-Standard reported on Friday that Bennett is serving an "indefinite" suspension after being issued a double minor for high sticking 13:38 into the third period of a 5-4 loss to the Peterborough Petes on March 6.
Edit:
Found this over at HFboards. Seems he cross checked another kid in the face.

Looks like Bennett will be suspended for cross checking Seymour in the mouth last night in Peterborough. Don't think he'll be playing tonight. He does play with an edge but sometimes he crosses the line and is a little nasty or dirty with the stick.
I know it was an incredible draft, but Getzlaf slid to where he did because teams weren't sure that he wasn't a bit too far out of control.
Can't see how one incident does this though
