With the revelation about his shoulder injury in the playoffs, I'd be surprised if he fell out of the top 10.

Button really isn't afraid to break away from the "consensus" of the other rankings. I track 10 other rankings plus his, so some of his outliers:
Sanheim at 8 (next lowest is 30)
Kempe at 10 (next lowest is 14)
Kamenev at 12 (next lowest is 29)
Point at 17 (next lowest is 25)
Jacobs at 27 (next lowest is 41)
Ho-Sang at 39 (next highest is 29)
Virtanen at 43 (next highest is 15)
McKeown at 51 (next highest is 36)
Dougherty at 81 (next highest is 39)
Glover not in the top 100 (usually in the 40-50 range)

I like the fact that Button is picking his own list and not worrying about consensus, but I don't understand how is own list can be so drastically different from month to month. Sanheim went from 32 to 8? He improved that much relative to all of the other prospects since March?

Haydn Fleury at 7 is interesting. Not that I would agree with it but if we were to trade down, I bet it would be for him.

I don't think it happens, but if they trade down Ritchie is probably the guy.

ISS has updated their top 30:
http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=114013
Also Button ranks based on who he thinks will have the best NHL careers not necessarily who he thinks is the better prospect right now.

What's the difference? Aren't all draft ranks based on how they project as NHLers?

really curious as to why he dislikes Virtanen so much. I appreciate his views and his willingness to go off the board, but Sanheim at 8? Come on now ... I'd love the Flames to take him at 34 (and Thomas at 64 ), but having him in the top 10 is just nuts.
FWIW here is Buttons mock draft for TSN at the lottery. Interesting to compare that to his list, to say the least.
1 Aaron Ekblad D Barrie (OHL)
2 Sam Reinhart C Kootenay (OHL)
3 Leon Draisaitl LW Prince Albert (WHL)
4 Sam Bennett C Kingston (OHL)
5 Michael Dal Colle LW Oshawa (OHL)
6 Jake Virtanen LW Calgary (WHL)
7 Kasperi Kapanen RW KalPa (FIN)
8 Nick Ritchie LW Peterborough (OHL)
9 Brendan Perlini LW Niagara (OHL)
10 Nikolaj Ehlers LW Halifax (QMJHL)
11 Alex Tuch RW USNTDP (USHL)
12 Jared McCann C Sault Ste. Marie (OHL)
13 Haydn Fleury D Red Deer (WHL)

Tuch is also extremely low at 32. Have seen him consistently between 10 and 20 everywhere else.

If he or Virtanen slipped to our 2nd pick we would be laughing. I don't know what's not to like with those two... Maybe there's something of a Rico Fata element to Virtanen - does he have the brain to adapt to the NHL, where he won't be significantly faster than everyone else? Maybe Tuch tops out as a 2nd or 3rd liner. I still like the look of them both.
Sanheim really surprises me. His stock has been rising all year. I thought at one point he would be available for one of our 3rd round selections...
It's a good thing Button prefaces his list with the whole 'successful NHL careers thing', because he has made some bold choices in that list.

Is there any correlation between Craig Button's rankings and Todd Button's picks (I realize the GM picks but I'm sure Todd has a lot of influence)?

it was quite uncanny in 2012. I remember he had Jankowski at 14, our original pick. He also had Sieloff and Gillies quite high if I remember correctly.

How bad would CP meltdown if we picked Nylander at 4?
Regarding Craig & Todd, that Jankowski incident was too weird for it to be a coincidence. They must share a bit of info. I was over the moon when we picked Jankowski, but that was mostly because of glowing reviews from Craig's list and THW.

Last summer many had Nylander picked to go first overall. He is rising lately, again, in the rankings. He's clearly a very skilled kid.

Yes, I have to think that if he were 2 inches taller and there weren't rumours about his attitude then there would be more fans pulling for us to draft him.
Hell, if he really is the player Florida covets then he could still be the discussion for 1st overall.
