I think it's Reinhart for us by the looks of it. And we better be on the phone to Snow to get the other one for the magic bag of beans that Snow usually demands.

Hopefully! I would have picked him first overall. Though him and Ekblad are pretty close in my books.

Yea if Reinhart falls to 4th I will be very happy. If Calgary had the 1st pick that's who I would want anyways.

All of this being a what if scenario....I could be on board with either a Hudler/Baertchi and probably add to that for Griffin Reinhart.

G. Reinhart isn't going anywhere. One of their better defensive prospects, the only way they'd bite is if our 2015 1st was in play, to at least make up for the Vanek trade.

I think as Vlad is saying you might be giving Snow a little too much credit for any of his trades that he has made in the past.

Bennett is a better prospect than Reinhart imo.
Reinhart seems to lack something, needs some edge, dare i say truculence.

With Sean having the mannerisms of Toews already (you can see it), adding a player like Kopitar on another line would be a recipe for disaster for other teams. Two centers with great size, one with a great shot (Sean) and one with good passing abiltiy (Leon).
I am not saying we have to draft Draisaitl, I want Sam Reinhart or Sam Bennett before him. But worst case scenario, if Florida picks Ekblad, Buffalo picks Reinhart and the Oilers pick Bennett, that leaves us Draisaitl or Dal Colle. Is this really a worst case scenario though? Nope, not really.
EDIT: Please, let's not trade down. 4th OA is going to benefit this team.

It's funny how now that we finally get a pick in the top 5, Calgary fans are treating it like a hot potato and want to trade down. Maybe we're just more comfortable with lower picks....

I don't think Reinhart is a great #1 overall pick but at #4 he'd be excellent value.
That potential has me excited.
Lordy though if Reinhart is there and we take someone else - BOOM!
So we have that to look forward to.

Great in terms of this draft or great in terms of what a 1st overall should be? I take him 1st in this draft personally. If he's there at 4 for us, I'll do backflips.

Bennett sounds like a player that has skill and a motor that doesn't quit. I am stealing this from the NFL draft coverage yesterday, but getting by on skill alone only takes you so far. You want to stay in the league for 10+ years its about the effort you give. Not to bring the Oilers into this, but there is a team that is the definition of top end skill that lacks effort.

I know points don't tell the whole story, but Reinhart put up 105 points in 60 games (1.75PPG) this year. For comparisons, here's the draft year totals of the last few 1st overall picks.
MacKinnon - 75 points in 40 games (1.70PPG)
Yakupov - 69 points in 42 games (1.64PPG)
Nugent-Hopkins - 106 in 69 games (1.53PPG)
Hall - 106 in 57 games (1.85PPG)
Tavares - 54 in 32 games (1.69PPG)
So, based on points and the fact that Reinhart has a very high hockey IQ and is said to be very responsible defensively, why is he not "good value for a 1st overall pick"?

I still like Reinhart best for us because I see a lot of similarities between him and Monahan, but I still think Reinhart is a overall more talented player.
Two nice steady, unflashy, productive, defensively responsible centers to pair a flashy winger and a strong winger with. Sounds like two first lines I'd love to have.

Reinhart is still #1 prospect in my eyes in this draft. If we get him at 4th it'll be a steal.

Sam Bennet 91pts in 57 games (1.6PPG)
Leon Draisatl 105pts in 64 games (1.64PPG)
Michael Dal Colle 95pts in 67 games (1.42PPG)
The more research I do the happier I am with either Bennet or Draisatl, both seem to be great talents with #1C potential
Edit: Beaten, damn you Cody!!

Just a hunch but think Draisaitl will be taken 1 or 2.
