If you are in the top 6, you are most likely considered a superstar. The superstars are in the top 6. I agree Baertschi can help them out, but it's better for him to stay with us.

Josi is TJ Brodie. So think of what we'd have to take for that.

Sven probably would not return the 9th overall at this point and even then you don't trade a prospect who is close to making the nhl for a pick. What is the point see what you have with a 0.5 ppg 20 year old instead of trading for magic beans.

Backlund has never broken 40 points in a season he is not a top 6 guy and Baertschi couldn't crack the line-up of the 4th worst team in the league. They are far from being obviously top 6 guys that help you win.
Which best players did Backlund shut down?

He isn't worth either.
Just because some people stupidly said he was worth a 5th doesn't mean everyone thinks that.

Fleury will be an okay ECHL I think we can get those kind of guys without giving up a guy like Sven.

Would you take Backlund and Baertschi for a 23 year old playing on a top pairing and excelling?
Better yet, would you take Filip Forsberg and Calle Jarnkrok for a 23 year old top pairing D man?

He doesn't play on the top pairing. Weber and jones are on the top pairing.

Perhaps sometimes, but Josi plays almost 7 more minutes a game than Jones and just 30 seconds less than Weber.
He's their second best D-man.

But saying he is going to be a career ECHL is just an uninformed opinion.
Why not if we don't have to trade our top 5 pick. And he's still on the board. At some point we need big, skilled defencemen. Or we become the oilers. And dmen usually take at least three years to develop.

The people who do this for a living think Fleury is a 12-14 pick. Burke himself said there is only one top ten Defenceman. Guess what? It's not Fleury.
No doubt he's decent, being a top 15 pick, but you're the only one who is salivating over him at #4.

You're right we have no idea that he is even going to be that good. A little premature of me to give him that level of success.

Besides, We have Wotherspoon who is making a name of his own. Even Breen can be mentioned as the 7/8 defenseman.
I don't think Fleury is the organizational need, unless Ekblad is there still.
We're not hating on Fleury snipe, it's Burke who we are referencing, the one that makes all of the decisions.
Start looking up Bennett or Dal Colle write ups, that's who we are getting.

I'm saying if we had a second first rounder we should pick him!!! I think we go Dal Colle because his size and scoring are too tantilizing to pass up.
