Well, it was better than that. Went to HBO Canada than HBO online, order the show, put in my shaw email and password, and bam, it was in "my orders" on my tv in VOD. sweet.

Anyways, I still like this show, after the first 2 episodes.

This show was on probation for me but so far I like season 4. It is clearly lacking strong direction, though. It's all over the place. And the stuff that made season 1 great is pretty much gone.

Jason's God impression was hilarious.

Thought the Tommy shifting into Sam story was kinda interesting. Thought they could have done more with it, but am willing to wait for another episode or two.

I'm starting to think if the Marnie character was the least bit attractive, I might have a little interest in this witch garbage, but whenever I see her on screen, I honestly ponder fast forwarding.

Kinda weird how the Arlene house fire/psycho baby had only one scene. Guess that's what happens when you try to cram so much crap into one show.

Is there really a need for Alcide anymore?? Provides nothing to the show outside of a good looking guy for women to look at. Starting to think that's the only reason he's still on the show.

Okay with this Sookie/Erik/Bill triangle. Simple storyline and I've always said this show worked best in season one because it was so simple.

Lafayette/Jesus stuff is almost unwatchable IMO.

It was a better episode tonight, but given the crap that's been spewed out the last while with this show, that's not saying a lot.

^ Waaaaay too much stuff going on right now. They need to kill off a few characters, and like you said, make the show simple again.

It would be fine if some of the supporting characters did just that.....support the major storylines and characters. Instead, it seems like everyone has a separate storyline that we need to keep track of, and for the time being aren't all that connected with each other.

Summarizing:

1) Sookie/Eric/Bill
2) Bill/distant relative (WTF was the point of that, anyway?)
3) Arlene/Baby
4) Jessica/Hoyt
5) Jason and all his issues
6) Alcide/Debby
7) Tara/girlfriend
8) Sam/random love interest
9) Tommy constantly getting into trouble
10) Marnie and the witch spirit
11) Jesus, Lafayette, and the "granddaddy"

I'm hoping that we've seen the last of the werepanthers.

This one never made sense to me. In one episode, they both admitted they were just using each other for sex, then the next episode, she brings him to meet her grand parents? Who brings their booty call home to meet the folks??

That whole part where Sookie is wandering around in the woods yelling to here brother was bad enough, but when Alcide/Debby showed up it was beyond ######ed. Oh Hello, were just passing through going to the pack meeting. Fancy meeting you here, Sookie.

I guess Bon Temp is not really a town but more of a cul de sac

Yeah, that was probably worse than Jason lying damn near dead on the side of the road a couple episodes ago and low and behold, Jason's best friend and vampire girlfriend just happen to drive by and save his life. What a coincidence!!

Yeah, especially since they live in Shreveport! All of a sudden they're in the woods near Bon Temps? I dunno if Bon Temps is a suburb nearby (I always assumed it was a made up place, I guess I could look it up) but why would someone who lived in Shreveport all of a sudden be walking in the woods near that town. Especially if they are going to a Shreveport pack meeting?

Beyond stupid.

With each passing episode, True Blood never fails to reach new levels of stupidity.

Having said that, as absurd as tonight's episode was, I thought the dramatic ending was well crafted. There are times that I can get past the absurdity of what they throw at us and appreciate the writing and direction and the final five minutes was definitely one of those instances for me.

Every week this thread is bumped, all it contains is more bitching and yet every week everyone watches it, haha. Although I have to agree with the bitching, I haven't watched season 4 yet, but I have skimmed through some episodes and it has even more sub-plots than season 3 and I hated season 3 because of that reason. There were like 7 sub-plots in season 3 and from reading y'all in this thread, I can tell there is double that for season 4.

This show really isn't that good, such a shame it has to tarnish HBO like it is.

On the other hand, naked Sookie is A-OK in my books.

I co-host a pop culture podcast weekly, so I have an excuse. I have to watch it. Well, I dont, but I like having at least one show to rip on each week.

What's everyone else's excuse?

Well like I said, she show is more of a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't usually have those. I hate reality TV, which is probably a lot worse. I don't watch a ton of TV outside of news and sports. I like to catch up on my Daily Show and Colbert Report, South Park, and a few other HBO programs.

That said, I don't think the show is terrible, there is definitely a lot worse on TV. It's got some great ideas, just some glaring problems too.

I think it's more of it hasn't lived up to what it could have been.

i hear, I'm kind of in the same boat. There is some great ideas in there, but the execution is terrible.

If the show didn't have such a strong opening season, I probably would have given up a long time ago. But it's been 40 plus episodes with these characters, I feel I need to see it thru.
