If Treliving is turning over the keys for his new coach to make his own hires, the HC seems more likely to be a retread, imo.

Agree goal tending and special teams were a mess. Gelinas shouldn't get a free pass. Not sure what direction Treliving decides on new HC. Retread, established Asst, or impact name. Also this team has not been built as a grinder physical team so the new HC should be selected based on our roster and adding some sandpaper players if that is the direction Treliving wants to go. But as is this team is soft on the 3rd and 4th line.

BT strikes me as a straight shooter.
His presser about Gios injury, no hiding, or 'upper body' or 're-evaluate in a couple weeks' was refreshing. As was his reasoning for trading Sven ('he wasn't going to re-sign here').
Maybe he's 'slimy' to you, but put me in the camp that has a different impression of the man.
Maybe you think KK is BT?

My reading of the situation was that Hartley was let go and Cloutier would not be returning and I sort of gathered that Hartley was fired and other decisions would likely wait until a new head coach was hired but that perhaps Cloutier just decided to step aside, go out on his own terms and make his own future. I don't know if that is accurate, it's just what I read between the lines.

Do you mean the trade or the signing?
Either way I think getting a top tier dman locked up is a good thing. He has made mistakes (Bollig, Raymond, and Setoguchi) but neither the trade for Hamilton nor his signing would be one of them.
Based on the Russell trade alone, I'm willing to give Treliving several more years.

KKing nope met him at least 20-30 times. The first 3 or so seasons I thought this guy is endearing. Overtime we "my family and friends" formed the opinion he is disingenuous to listen to and converse with.

Why not just clean house now though? Which incoming head coach in his right mind would keep the goaltending/special teams assistants from the 30th ranked team?

It's crazy to me that people actually think he deserves to be fired - the guy has barely been here for two full seasons.
No patience at all to let a GM do his work and actually put his mark on the team - even Feaster had 3 1/2 years in the organization.
The guy has made the following trades in just two years to help set this team up:
Russell for Jokipakka, Pollock, & 2nd
Hudler for 2nd & 4th
Granlund for Shinkaruk
1st & 2 2nds for Hamilton
Baertschi for a 2nd
Glencross for a 2nd & 3rd
The only trade I think he would probably want to take back would be Bollig for a 3rd rounder.
In terms of UFA signings we have seen him sign - Raymond, Frolik, & Engelland. Not great in that department but at least for Raymond and Engelland the contracts expire after this season - and really Engelland has been a good bottom pairing d-man for this team.
I still like the Frolik deal - he showed flashes this season and I think that one could still really help the team moving forward.
The drafting continues to look positive as well (from the early returns) :
2014: Bennett, McDonald, Smith, Hickey, Ollas-Mattson, Carroll
2015: Andersson, Kylington, Karnaukov, Mangiapane, Bruce
Honestly outside of not locking up the goaltending issue over the summer (even then at the time I didn't want them to spend assets on Talbot or Jones), I don't think there is a real mistake that Treliving has made in his time here.
The thing that people are missing with the Hartley firing is that you couldn't give him another year to prove himself without extending him. If the team truly doesn't like him or want to play for him then they wouldn't respond to his coaching with him on a one year lame duck contract.
But if you aren't 100% sold on him being the coach of the future for this team then it makes no sense to give him another extension.
It was a tough decision I'm sure for the GM but I think in the long run this may have been the right decision.

They question should be "are you a CP troll"
Results would be about the same short of a couple selection errors
