Not sure if all the accessories are selected separately for these bikes or part of the package. What's the word about them within those who know bikes really well? Are they the absolute best/top of the line in the road bike market? Or are they just simply "good-looking"? What would be your best guess on the cost of this setup for two, including the rack and locks?

That completely obscures the license plate. What are the laws regarding that? I see this all the time.

I've never been bothered when I have bikes on mine. My wife did get a warning when it was folded up with no bikes.

I have yet to be given a warning, but I am prepared to be extra nice if I was ever stopped. When we went to bend, I picked up a pair of magnetic trailer lamps at princess auto, just to be sure someone could see me signalling.....
Those pictures of Merlin's view look sweet.......

Rode merlons view today and it is a tough grunt to get up to the bench (I walked my bike several times on the way up), but the ride down is sure fun.
Nice trail, will repeat.......

I doubt it's al that great. Even the dirt I sometimes ride on my commute is a quagmire right now.
Seriously, WTF is with all of the ninja cyclists out there? I've seen more than half a dozen, dressed mostly in black, zero lights or reflectors. Death wish? Smarten up and spend $15 for a decent blinkie and front white light.

So i searched this thread and couldn't really find what I was looking for. Figured I'll ask. Is there a good place to bike shop online. I live at least an hour away from a LBS and finally want a better bike than my $150 Walmart special. Don't really want to spend over $1000, but any good place to shop online?

wiggle.com is also good. I prefer it to jensonusa but I've used both. Not for whole bikes mind you, but lots of parts!

Yeah, I was looking at Bikesdirect.com as well. I've just always been under the impression that if it seems too good to be true it probably is

there are some smoking bike deals right now at universalcycles and competitivecyclist. these two places, however, you will need to ship to babb MN (universal will ship, but it's outrageous). I would be all over the salsa mukluk closeouts if I hadn't purchased 3 bikes since the xmas sales.
There was some talk a while back about starting a parts bin thread (pylon?). Does one exist? Wife is getting annoyed that my bike stuff is making her park outside all winter.

Jenson's good for full bikes, but only some can be shipped to Canada. My brother got a really nice Focus - Carbon, full Ultegra - for about $1500 all in awhile ago. When it came, all you had to do was pump the tires, straighten the handlebar, add pedals, and you were off to the races.
And since it's close to cycling season in Vancouver (well, it's sunny anyway) I picked this up a couple of weeks back. Should get me through my first Gran Fondo this summer:

I like universal cycles the best tho. They have 3 or 5 different warehouses and they let you choose which warehouse you want it shipped from. I sometimes buy directly from amazon.com. bought a Nexus 3 centrelock from an amazon warehouse for $80 instead of $275 I normally would have to pay.

Oh, I should throw this out there too.
Bow cycle has started a "rent-a-tech" program... basically bring in your bike and a technician will teach you whatever you want to learn to do. They can accomodate up to 3 people per session. My buddy and I have signed up to learn fork overhaul and suspension linkage overhaul. I don't know what it costs (they haven't figured it out yet) but we are doing a Sunday morning in Feb. Anyone interested?

Welcome to the R3 family. I have the 2011 version. It looks like you bought it from La Bicicletta (based on the image location), which is where I bought mine and my Felt F65X. Have you had your fitting yet? The guy who did my Felt fitting earlier this month was awesome.
It's always cycling season out here. You just need the proper gear.

I did indeed. Got it fitted a couple weeks back but have only had time for one decent ride so far - otherwise it's been sitting on the trainer on rainy days as a very expensive stationary bike. Looking forward to giving it a really good run soon though. It was the power-transfer and hill-climbing that sold me on it.
How has yours held up over time?

I got a call from cyclepath, my new giant fast road commuter bike has arrived, as much as I'd like to bring it home today, I will wait for a while.
Got 10% off of the price for putting the bike on layaway..........I ordered this bike sight unseen, so I sure hope it fits without too much modification.
I am going to buy a set of race face atlas pedals to put on my Rocky mountain, and put my spank spikes on the giant

Bumping this thread on account of the great weather! And the fact I need to buy a bike. Kids are too fast to run alongside now so my research begins. Wonder how long it will take me to read all 96 pages of this thread
