It was a much better ride South than this morning but I was hoping for the crazy wind we had around noon.

The path along the river by McKenzie Meadows Golf Club was closed off so I had to take the little switchback path up to McKenzie Lake. The river also looked much, much higher than last week.

Interesting, must be coming from the Elbow contribution, as the level at the Louise Bridge looked the same.

Tomorrow's Bike-to-School Day and the weather looks good. If you're able, get those kids on bikes and off to school.

In the area thru douglasdale the path seems about 4-6 feet above the river. In some places you can really see how quickly it is moving. Water also seems muddier than usual - I am assuming lots of dirt from run off.

Good thing we are not getting lots of rain this June.

It sure was. I took a detour through the MRU grounds. The Sun Dress Alert should be at EXTREME today.

there will no doubt be a few of you that really enjoy the ride home, while others will suffer.

my son is at a track and filed event at glenmore park, so I drove this morning - back in the saddle for the balance of the week.

the wife booked an extended weekend in fernie on july long - looking forward to ripping up the lazy lizard a few times.

also, if anyone uses trailforks, they now seem to have a feature that will allow you to track your ride and show you where you are on a given trail. Will be interesting to see how well this works out in the real world.

Have you ridden this before? Could kids do this trail?

After 15 years of riding my mountain bike I finally took the plunge and bought a new bike for riding around the city and pulling a chariot. Went with a Specialized Sirrus and couldn't be happier.
Even rode my bike to work today for the first time in years. I don't think I am ready to buy any spandex yet but I suppose time will tell. With the right planning I will be able to drop the kid off at daycare and continue riding to the office a few days a week.

yes, I have ridden this trail a couple of times one of my favourites for sure. there are two parts to this trail. the first section from the parking lot is super buff, with a steady, but not overly taxing climb. I have seen kids on it several times. I would say the easy part ends at about the power lines.

the newer section has slightly more difficult climbs - it would be tough for all but the most determined kids.

for adults this is a great trail thru old growth forest if you take it all the way tot eh lodge, where you can have a refreshment and then head back to the lot and enjoy what is a mostly downhill ride.

My buddy takes his 10 and 12 year old kids on it all the time. Send your kids off and go ride Project 9.

It stank. At times I struggled to get above 10km/hr.

Going south today and my first attempt at going the entire distance home. Took me 1:45 to do the whole 29 km, but I made it! Those last couple of km I wasn't sure. Didn't want to call my wife to come get me from somewhere that I normally walk the dog!

Had an enthusiastic "Bike to School Day" rider today. I may have to give in and let her ride more often. (It's literally two blocks)
