I can't believe the NHL deadline is only 17 days away and the following trades have taken place since the season started:
- OCTOBER 7: Edmonton Oilers trade F Nail Yakupov to St. Louis Blues for F Zach Pochiro and a conditional draft pick.
- OCTOBER 8: Montreal Canadiens trade F Tim Bozon to Florida Panthers for D Jonathan Racine
- NOVEMBER 2: Pittsburgh Penguins trade G Mike Condon to Ottawa Senators for 2017 5th-round pick
- NOVEMBER 8: New York Rangers trade D Dylan McIlrath to Florida Panthers for D Steven Kampfer and a conditional 2018 7th-round pick
- NOVEMBER 16: Florida Panthers trade F Logan Shaw to Anaheim Ducks for F Michael Sgarbossa
- DECEMBER 9: Toronto Maple Leafs trade F Peter Holland to Arizona Coyotes for 2018 conditional draft pick
- JANUARY 11: Toronto Maple Leafs trade G Jhonas Enroth to Anaheim Ducks for 2018 7th-round pick
- JANUARY 13: Colorado Avalanche trade F Cody McLeod to Nashville Predators for F Felix Girard
- JANUARY 21: Los Angeles Kings trade F Michael Latta to Chicago Blackhawks for D Cameron Schilling
- JANUARY 24: San Jose Sharks trade F Tommy Wingels to Ottawa Senators for F Buddy Robinson, F Zach Stortini and 2017 7th-round pick
- JANUARY 26: Tampa Bay Lightning trade D Nikita Nesterov to Montreal Canadiens for D Jonathan Racine and 2017 6th-round pic
- FEBRUARY 4: New Jersey Devils trade F Vernon Fiddler to Nashville Predators for 2017 4th-round pick
This has to be the slowest year for trades for as long as I can remember. None of the players listed have any sort of top end talent.

I'd still take a flyer on Yakupov if the price was right.

He's very very bad and probably the biggest bust in recent times however he is a RW. I'd take a chance just in case he worked out as a FU to the Oilers.

Most players have required a little bit of time to wash the Oiler stink off. Hemsky needed some time in Ottawa and then he was decent in Dallas. Gagner needed some time in Tampa and is now decent in Columbus. Dubnyk really needed some time (ARI, NSH, MTL) and now he's unreal in Minnesota. Yak is having his time right now in St Louis. Once they let him go to UFA this summer he should be a primary target for BT, unless he goes back to Russia ofc.
I wonder where the tenderness and Ebs will go to spend their degreasing time.

Yes the 5 minutes that Gagner was part of the Lightning organization really helped him out

Oh, I'm well aware of how much of a bust Yak has been. But like you said, he is a RW. If the Flames could get him cheap, then I would be all for them giving him his (probably) last shot in the NHL.

I'd give Yak a pto next year. This year I'd give up bouma or a 7th rounder.

Yak has been healthy scratched by Blues lately. Oilers were lucky to get what they did. I don't mind taking a flyer on anyone but he's not looking like an NHLer.

Faulk is overrated. Average defensive game at best. Can never be used against other teams top line. Strong offensive game but needs sheltered minutes or exposed.

I'd have not problem trading
Shinkaruk
Klimchuk, or
Poirier
For yak.
Or even up to a 2nd round pick.
I think Yak has potential and was horribly misused by the Oilers. He needs to be brought along in a better environment. But don't overlook the kid has enormous potential.

Wonder if Yak and Hitchcock clashed during his time there. Might not have been the best of situations. Still, Yak is running out of excuses to step up. Probably will get one more shot somewhere, and if he can be had for miniscule assets, I would give him a shot. I feel like he's a guy that could do well under a hand-holding personality like GG.

Setoguchi on waivers! Maybe he could be the top RW we need.

I don't believe those first 3 guys have any real trade value at all at this point. You have a point about Yaks potential but I believe a 2nd is too much now. He's close to being on the waiver wire.

The last thing this team needs is a defenseman who only plays the offensive side of the puck and can't defend. The mix isn't right, too many guys who can't defend, what they need is a pure defensive guy to anchor a shutdown pairing.
It's easy to blame poor goaltending but when your defenseman are constantly losing battles and have problems clearing the zone because they're too soft, no goalie will look good here.

Hasn't Quick been back at practice recently? Also Tafolli just recently returned from his injury.
