I believe more than a few people here thought he was overrated going into that draft. Less than a point a game player in his draft year is a sign that a player could struggle to put up points in the NHL.

Might take a flyer on Lazar if he could be had for a low pick (6-7th) but that's about it. He's been extremely underwhelming.

The Flames could use his skill for sure but he's a classic whipping boy for fans because he's pretty useless without the puck.

eberle is kind of what I hoped Klimchuck could be but better defensive abilities. Eberle has a very strong release

Our own players to re-sign in the off season, goalies to sign or acquire and people are thinking of spending assets to send Edmonton's way for 2 more years of $6M Jordan Eberle?

Trade speculation be damned. Give your head a shake people.

Poirer for Lazar swap?

Porier played his junior hockey across the river in Gatineau and Lazar played up the road in Edmonton. 2 former first rounders from 2013 who haven't really lived up to their potential.

Yeah I wouldn't trade for him.

It's 2 years before he hits UFA - maybe then we give him a call. If things aren't working out for him up north, could see him wanting to come to Calgary - maybe even on an Eric Staal type of contract (3 years at $3-4m AAV) to give us some flexibility.

I'm also tempted to go for Hall in UFA the season afterwards just to piss Oilers fans off too, lol. Frolik and Brouwer hit UFA same time. But we already have Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

He's a right hand shot as well. May be something both teams could visit but I don't think Lazar is skilled enough to be that top 6 RW this team needs.

I like the idea. Wouldn't be the first time a guy got a fresh start in a more comfortable setting and thrived. Might be a great move for both kids.

I didn't either. Just didn't like the idea of trading for Edmonton's baggage but you're right, no actual trade suggestion was made.

That being said, I see a player's name appear in a trade speculation thread I'm going to assume its suggested we acquire them via trade.

"I think this player would be a good Flame.." infers that.

I'd say it would be worth a shot if Ottawa was willing to do it. Both guys in similar situations, although Lazar does have significantly more NHL experience.
