				 2016/2017 Trade Speculation and Rumors

seems like a good rumor to start the next threadhttp://www.todaysslapshot.com/from-t...finitely-play/

		| Elliotte Friedman was on Edmonton’s 630 CHED on Friday afternoon.
As part of a much larger discussion on defensemen, and on if Tyson Barrie might be in play:

“Oh, I think he’s definitely in play.

 Do you?

 “Yep. Yep. Absolutely.

Later in the conversation, on if he thinks Tyson Barrie is the most likely to go of the right-shot defensemen:

“You know what, I do think Tyson Barrie is going to go.

“I did a game there where Montreal was in Denver. Don Meehan was there at the time with Craig Oster. They’re the Newport guys who handle Barrie. I just got the impression from everybody involved that they weren’t really even in the same ballpark.

“Knowing the way they finished their year, I’ve got to think it’s very likely he moves on.”

Trades only happen at the deadline and the draft in today's NHL. Even the speculation is just people making up random scenarios that are usually grossly one-sided. There is no track to get back onto.

If that's the case, then maybe they pass. Or perhaps they can't pass up a player/prospect like Bennett, who knows.

I pass. I think highly of Bennett's potential though.

Now is the time to make an offer for Landeskog. This Avalanche team is terrible. They must be close to blowing it up.

I pass on that deal. Landeskog is making 5.5, Bennett will be less than that for his bridge deal.

Landeskog has been good since he entered the league. Hands down he's the better player today

Sure but this is about building a team in a cap world. For my team I roll the dice with a younger and cheaper Bennett, and hopefully in a couple years it pays off.

Fair enough. But then you're spending prime Gaudreau years waiting for that gamble to pay off.

So then trade for his contract that is another 5 years at 5.5. How much money do you have left for 2 goalies next year?

I get it, we all like shiny things but making a trade like that will hamstring you in other positions.

Would there be any interest in Tomas Tatar or Gustav Nyquist from the Red Wings, both play RW and can play with Johnny and Monahan, on the RW. A package with one of them and Brendan Smith or Jonathan Ericsson(Smith package would be a bit more expensive).

I would be, depending on the acquisition cost of course.

What are we sending back ? They aren't going to move smith. There d Corp is brutal and smith is a light in it. I like both players but I think they want d back.

Maybe something around Kylington +

Both guys are still in their 20s and consistent 40-50 point 20goal guys with good defence. Why would they move them for that package ?

Plus, Red Wings need goal scoring.
Why would they get rid of Nyquist or Smith? We have nothing to offer.
