Colour me skeptical.
Nobody has that much time on their hands to copy her grammar and post these long of responses. She's posted in incredibly more abstract forums then just CP. Normal Troll rules, simply do not apply to this women.

Okay. So if the thread does show up immediately on a Google search, what exactly would you have to search for to find it? Unless you specified "Calgary" in the search, "Tipping" comes up with a lot of hits before the Calgarypuck forum results appear.

You are over thinking this...Usually the most simple explanation is the right one.

It doesn't make sense for a group of servers to be doing this. How would a group of different people keep coming up with the same writing style, points and counter points?

Do you really think that a select group of servers are conspiring to post on every message board about tipping? What's next, world domination?

No...It is some crazy broad. Rest easy tonight.

"tipping a server" gets this thread on the front page. 7th result (not including videos)

THE FRONT PAGE!!

Google's indexing servers are Flames fans, that's the only reasonable explanation.

I shot apple juice when I bartended. It was my tequila.

I wasn't really thinking it was rogue group of disgruntled servers, more like some banned user who reads CP regularly, created the account to have some fun with us. The person's first post, was just a copy and paste from another site. The only thing that makes me think that isn't the case though, is that "Spring1" wasn't really abusive to anybody here, in the way that somebody with an axe to grind would be.

Why are we arguing this is beyond me? She's joined about a 10000x other forums that have no relevance to anything food related. She's crazy as hell, and it's awesome. Don't ruin this for us

See I have this urge to go copy spring1's sthick onto other unsuspecting forums. Kinda like the a**hole things you do to be an a**hole. So I wonder if springs isn't multiple users who thought this was a hilarious troll and perpetuated it forward.

The next forum I frequent that has a tipping thread better watch out.

Well, I totally think that no matter what, in an affluent economy such as ours, we should be spreading around the wealth.

People get 15% minimum, no matter how bad the service is.

Where do you draw the line between a tipped and non-tipped occupation? Convenience store and low-end retail are probably the two lowest paid jobs out there so should we tip there?

I think one thing we should recognize is that waiters and waitresses make excellent money for they work they do in the current tipping enviroment. They are probably close to the top of the zero required education wage scales. Even in low end restaurants they make $25 plus per hour and that number gets much higher at better restaurants and bars. So if the sole reason is to spread around the wealth tip your gas jockey and the guy at 7-11.

Well here's my crazy logic. When you go a restaurant you are waited on somebody who is literally working for you while you are there for an extended period of time. Whereas at McDonald's, gas station you're interaction last minutes if not seconds. So if you want to reward them 15 cents for the 10 second encounter that's up to you, but I think they might be offended.

A McDonald's employee might serve 100 customers an hour so $0.15 would add up. As for the waiters, do you think they average out to $25 per hour for 40 hours of work or is it more like $25 per hour over dinner and lunch and much less in between assuming they can even get 40 hours a week. I have had some wait staff mention that they always work split shifts as well.

This right here. $25 an hour is great, but most servers I knew would get about 20-30 hours a week.

Not to mention the retail employees pointed out usually get sick time, medical benefits, etc. Whereas in the service industry that's generally non-existent.

I believe she weighs in at 90 and 3/5 pounds.
I also read her height somewhere but don't recall it.

I agree with you and base my tipping around that philosophy and the fact that it is socially expected and that I benefited from it in the past. However the post I replied to was saying the reason for tipping is that we are in a good economy so wealth should be spread around. If that is your logic for tipping waiters and waitresses should not be where you start handing out tips.

If you take a look at the people working at Walmart and then take a look at restaurant staff you can tell whose take home pay is higher. Just look at the shoes, purse, or jeans of your average Walmart employee and the average waitress and you can tell who makes more money.

Now this has nothing to do with should you tip or not. Lets just not keep pushing along this poor waiter or waitress myth. They are the highest paid people in the restaurant and amoung the paid highest zero education jobs out there. So if you are tipping, tip for the service you recieve not some percieved duty to help out your fellow man.

Which is exactly what I do. I'm just saying that a blanket statement of "They make $25 an hour" isn't exactly as good as it sounds.
