Moxies does a grilled cheese with lobster meat. I found it too greasy.

^^^^ Everyone loves the dill dressing at Matador's.

Big Macs are freaking awesome.

If only one place sold it and used fancy names for the sauce and charged $15 for it, you'd love it. Admit it.

I don't understand all these posts about amazing grilled cheese sandwiches that have "xxx" in them.

If "xxx" is not cheese, then it isn't a grilled cheese sandwich, it is a "xxx" and cheese sandwich that happens to be grilled, or perhaps a grilled "xxx" and cheese sandwich.

As for the Hatin in Peters, they defiinitely changed their burgers a while back (after it was sold), and they aren't as good as they used to be, but it's still pretty awesome to get a deliciously saucy burger, a shoebox of fries, and whatever kind of milkshake my random number generator spits out that day. Go Peters!

Re: Big Macs - they seem to be shrinking in size every year. The "Big" Mac is almost a slider now.

Re: Peters - they are now offering grilled onions on burgers.

It hasn't really been that long since I lived in Calgary, and I have lived there off and on for many years, and yet, there are many places on that list that I don't recognize.

Can a place that has only been around for 2 years or less really have an item that is 'iconic' to a city?

The Alley Burger is better than the Whole Truck, IMHO.

I think I remember someone on this very board giving some enthusiastic thumbs up to this place, possibly even for this very cake.

This place is amazing. I dont usually eat desserts, but Yamato is too good to say no to. Their mango cheesecake is the best.

I'm of the same mind.

If they had just listed their milkshakes I'd be okay with them making this list but they had to mention their food. I find their burgers almost inedible, though grilled onions might help (I swore off anything non-dairy from Peter's, so thanks for that troutman). Every now and then I order a burger hoping I'll like it, but I'm just disappointed every time. I'd rather eat Five Guys if I'm in the mood for a greasy burger.

Yeah, I agree. Their subs are definitely filling but I prefer the beef sate sub at Pho Chu The on MacLeod Trail.

I wish I could find a decent sub in Lethbridge. Spring Roll is alright but they could learn to be a little more liberal with their filling. Not to derail the thread, but if anyone from Lethbridge knows of a good Vietnamese sub place, please PM me. I lived off the Bake Chef when I was at the U of C and am missing my study food while I word on this new degree.

+1, I used to go to Matador's about once a month with my grandma until she passed away a few years ago. Great pizza but even better salad dressing. Thanks for the reminder and think I'll make a trip soon!

Los Chilitos is a great place in the summer as well. Tacos are fantastic, although a little pricey.

I've been to Ho Won lately, and their food is terrible now. It used to be my family's restaurant of choice when my parents were too lazy to cook. The salt and pepper squid was always the best part. No matter how much the quality of the food went down, the salt and pepper squid would always make up for it. It's sad to say, but I don't think the squid can make up for it anymore. The last time I had it, the squid was not fried long enough, or else the oil was not hot enough, because it was a greasy, pale, soggy mess. Not enough peppers or onions, and way too much batter.

Yes, why do people keep getting the "whole truck" burger at Alley Burger? The Alley Burger is what made Alley Burger. It is absolutely delicious.
