It's OK Photon... I believe in your invisible dragon!
I would have no problem buying a house like that, especially if it were at a discount. That is not to say I am discounting entirely the idea of spooks (in fact I hang around a few people who think they can contact them) but that it wouldn't be important enough to influence my decision. In fact, if the property was discounted, it'd probably influence my decision onto the 'pro' buying side.
If there truly were a ghost living with me, it might be kind of interesting. I'm really not scared of stuff like that at all. Real or not, ghosts can't hurt you.

I don't think living in a murder or suicide house would bother me in itself. I think it would just be irritating to be "that guy" who lives in the murder house. A lot of people have superstitions about that sort of thing and anyone who lives in such a house may be looked upon as creepy by many.

If it was a good deal I'd probably but it and rent it out. I remember this place on Northmount Drive where someone was mudered and everytime I'd drive by I'd picture the scene as described in the newspaper.
I wouldn't worry about ghosts but I'd drive myself crazy thinking about what happened if I was there all the time.
If I didn't know any details I could probably live there though.

I'd probably buy the house and tell my guests the story behind it. Then, I'd run into my panic room and lockdown the guests.
Then the REAL games can begin.

While I do not believe in 'ghosts' as in the spirits or souls of people who have died lingering behind, I am prepared to accept the possibility that there is something going on that we aren't able to quantify yet.
My personal lay-person's theory is that, in certain places or under certain circumstances, it is possible for people and other life forms to leave behind a kind of residual energy which can be occasionally perceived - either visually (seeing ghosts), auditorially (hearing footsteps), or tatically (temperature drops, creepy feelings).
I am prepared to accept this because we live in a universe where 70% of the energy and 25% of the matter are invisible to us. I think it's entirely probable that we are as effected by 'dark energy' as we are by gravity (forces of similarly weak magnitude) and that maybe our brains interpret these energies by representing them in ways we are familiar with - sights, sounds, and sensations.
Obviously I have no proof, and I know that the burden of proof is on the claimant, but I will quote Mr. Holmes: "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."

I believe these can be explained by Quantum Physics one day. That's why I do not discount someone when they relay their haunting experiences to me.
I'm serious.

Here is a link to the video tour of the house in question and the views you get from the Lake. You don't get a place like this, that close to the Lake in Osoyoos for that type of money these days.
And yes that is that realtor's real name, sort of like a sexy hamburger I suppose. I guess having a B.Sc is worth noting when you sell real estate too.

^ Dude man, that's a solid price like you said Syl... definitely worth a closer look. That's the price for a 25 year old house in Vancouver.

Looks like it is close to my old boss's house (formerly mayor of Osoyoos). Buy it.

Nanaimo is trying to make bylaws regarding these kinds of houses though.

Yeah, I grew up there. My parents still live in Nanaimo. I talked to my mom and she told me to tell you to quit spying on her and my dad on their "date nights"...

For a good deal, that'd be pretty hard to pass up. But for me personally, I could see myself havin a major problem with livin in a house where somethin like that went down. Maybe it's wussy, but that's how it is. I'd be constantly creeped out, and any unexplained sound at night would have my hair standing up, I can totally see it.

I find it incredibly sad that your friends mom chose to hang herself.
I also wonder if the fingernail marks were her vain attempt to reverse the horrible decsion she made.

Haha..funny. Did you grow up there? Ok..if you're from Nanaimo you know all about Beban House. Well, my grandparents lived in that house for many many years. I spent alot of time there in my childhood, and I slept there many nights, and believe me, I saw ghosts in that house. I never saw the little boy, but I saw the woman, the same one all the RCMP used to see in the upstairs office, which was the guest room. Also at the side of the house above the fire escape is a window and many times I saw a man in that window. For those of you who don't know it, Beban house is an old log mansion in Nanaimo that is owned by the city, and was featured on Creepy Canada. I started seeing ghosts at a young age, in that house. I could tell alot of stories but people usually think I'm crazy. Everyone thought I was crazy in my first house until they came over and got the crap scared out of them themselves. Anyway, I did buy a haunted house. I never regretted it though, no bad spirits or anything, just the old man that lived there for years and didn't want to leave.

Neighbor across the road hung himself, and the house is now up for sale, at what would be considered around market value. I can't wait till the new neighbors move in, and I can ask them if they knew beforehand or not.

No ghosts for me either. 25 years ago, accidental, it should be fine.
Do you people believe in black magic though? I did not till my last visit to Pakistan.
I guess this happens quite a bit in Pakistan. So few years ago, when I went back for a visit. All the sudden this orange stain started appearing on our clothes(like a rust). We first thought it was probably from the washing machine. So we used a different machine to get it out but we couldn't get the stain out. So whatever, we got rid of those clothes.
Even though we weren't using the same machine anymore, the stains were still appearing, when they got on the clothes, is something we couldn't figure out. Everyone was saying, someone is trying "black magic" on us, I didn't believe it though. Than heading to different city for a visit, my brother was sitting in he front seat, when we left the house his clothes were clean, but as we got off the van, he had the similar stain on his shirt again. This was getting creepy, I still had my doubts. Until, the same thing happened to me. I put on a brand new shirt, left the room to go to the living area and there it was a big orange stain right on the front of the shirt. I fell sick that night and ended up throwing up few times the next day.
Some crazy shiet was going on, didn't stay long enough to get to the bottom of it, but when it happened to me, it made a believer.
