Is that song racist? I can't figure out the connection.
Lynyrd Skynyrd was well associated with being a confederist. The lyrics
" Well, I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow"
Is related to taking a shot at Neil young to #### off with equal rights as in his songs "Alabama" and " Southern man".
And the lyrics
"In Birmingham, they love the governor (boo boo boo)
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth
...
Sweet home Alabama, oh, sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue and the governor's true"
Were in support of the governor at the time ( George Wallace, a supporter of segregation and giving Bull Conner unrestricted control) and a general #### you to the protesters against him.

The weird thing is Ronnie and Neil were buddies. Drive-by Truckers wrote a song about it.

But yeah, it's pretty hard not to view Skynyrd as pretty racist. The prominent display of the confederate flag at concerts, on album covers, etc. is another example.
I don't think the person who was playing it was even smart enough to know about the supposed subplot of that song. They probably went as deep as, "Confederate Flag + Alabama = that'll piss em' off"

Police officers should only be allowed to carry firearms when in the process of actively serving a warrant for a violent crime.
I just don't know what to say to this. That part of the public actually has this stand point blows me away. Just from a simply logistical stand point this is almost impossible to do without increasing the police budgets across Canada by double.

Police officers in England, Wales, and Scotland do not carry firearms. They seem to be fine.

US police forces are turning into the Gestapo at an alarming rate
Earlier this year police did a drug bust that turned up empty.
During this drug bust the police threw in a flash bang grenade it landed in a babies crib. It blew half of the kids face off. The family tried suing and was denied. This case and that case made little ripples.

I understand completely. My one very close friend I have known for over a decade thinks " all these ######s need to know there place" I was shocked! We have not spoken nor ever will again unless she cleans up her act.

Yeah, this just keeps looking worse and worse. I don't know how people can look at stuff like this and expect black people to work within the confines of the current system to achieve the changes they need. It's pretty clear that the system is perfectly designed to resist this change, not least of which because of the legitimacy afforded to it by the white majority.

So witness for cop lied and is a known moron and its a huge deal, main witness for brown lied and known criminal and its no biggie?
Either way police need to stop shooting people. I've been watch COPS on tv lately and just shocked on how they treat people when they know the camera is on them.
