So you are a supporter of the First Amendment and more specifically the NRA?
Not even comparable. But I'll tell you why.
I guess I would have to agree that in that case, the same adage would apply. If you don't defend the right, you will probably lose it.
However, I don't agree with that right. I don't agree that everyone should have access to everything. I don't agree with a lot of their selling policies, their background policies, their concealed carry policies, their stand your ground laws. I'm not against people owning guns, I think the laws we have in Canada work pretty well. I'd make a few minor tweaks but I like what we have. The laws in the States obviously aren't working. So no, I don't agree with them practically or morally as they stand there.
And as far as the NRA goes, do you really think they are defending freedoms? Or are they defending the insane profits of the gun companies? I know where I would put my bet. Much like the corrupt Islamist, is he really endorsing his view of the world, or just doing what he can to gain and stay in power?
And if you think that's a weird and off base comparison (which I admit it is) perhaps you shouldn't have made such an off base one here? First amendment and how it's been perverted has nothing to do with the conversation. And if it does, could you please clarify?
Here's REALITY - if you don't cooperate with the cops, it usually doesn't end well regardless of color, religion, culture, hair style or raiders cap. Should the cops just walk away? That's called not doing your job and they have failed to protect and serve. A police offer doesn't know what you are capable of, what you have done, Like Estrada said, if anyone can be accused of being racist, it's the store owner who called it in, the cops are doing their job - the dood gave them a hard time - that gets you arrested.....get it?
It's not a hard concept. and a simple thing like cooperating actually will actually help whatever issue there is between cops and everyone who doesn't like them....the title of the video is misleading - he had a hand in what happened to him and it wasn't because of his skin color.
He's broken no law when they approach him. That's all they need to know. Sure, the store owner was probably the most racist of them all, but that hardly gives them a pass.
Legally you are wrong. (Not saying that's what you are arguing, I know you're more making the 'common sense' argument) There is no reason or precedent for arrest there. You might feel it's ok to wave it away under the guise of 'hey that's reality, that's how things work' and that is precisely why Flash and I disagree. If that is reality, that's a bad thing for everyone. And if it's a reality for certain races, than that's profiling and racism.
Either way, it's wrong. Plain and simple. Legally wrong, and morally wrong.

In his own mind. The store owner called the police for some reason, the police only know one side (what was called in) and should be trying to get his side. I would be more then happy to tell my side if I was innocent of everything. The lady kinda is but the male who arrives certainly is not. The police handled this horribly, but the guy filming certainly did not help his cause.

Do they lack the gumption, moxy and work ethic of their white counter parts?
Why do you think black people are 3 times as likely to be poor in America than their white counter parts?
Because people born from poverty have a higher than likely chance to be poor and there is a higher percentage of black people living in poverty than white people.

Watch this video (yes, it's long; yes, it's worth 48 minute of your time) and then come back and say if you still feel the same way.

So just bow down to your militarized overlords whether or not you did something wrong?
I once got stopped by a cop when he thought "my bicycle brakes were illegal"
When we were all said and done I asked him him for his badge number. He refused. I asked him do you know it is illegal for him to refuse to disclose his I.d. to me . Right then and there he said I was going to be detained. When I asked him why he just said "because I say you are"
We get to the station they throw me in a one person cell for 6 hours then released me. They never said one word why when I asked the out take officer . Just gave me my things back but when I asked her about the badge number of the arresting officer she did provide it.
I then made a formal complaint which took forever to resolve but they did reprimand him in the end at least.

Are you black? I have a hard time believing this could happen to a white person.
Because people born from poverty have a higher than likely chance to be poor and there is a higher percentage of black people living in poverty than white people.
Look everyone, here's an actual instance where the proper usage of begging the question applies!
How do you know that? Maybe he didn't and if he didn't then play it cool, showing any sign of resistance - is not a good move no matter how little. the cops aren't going to spend the next several hours in a chat, it ends with getting arrested -

I don't disagree, but if it's wrong, what is right? Argue it out for the rest of the night until someone says "uncle" racial profiling or criminal profiling aside - a police officer does not know when approaching some one how it plays out - the worst is assume, until you prove otherwise - arguing isn't getting you anywhere - regardless of skin color.

sorry about your experience, but in any group of people there are ######s....

Fair enough, good points - in reflection it was a bit off base

He asked why black people are 3 times more likely to be poor and the fact is that a lot of your status has more to do with who you were born than good choices and hard work.

Ok, EE, let's keep going here.
So, why were the parents of these black children poorer than their white counter parts?
He asked why black people are 3 times more likely to be poor and the fact is that a lot of your status has more to do with who you were born than good choices and hard work.

There is an element of all that - but reality is, whites have been the "dominant" force in north america for 500 hundred years..black people have gone through slavery and up until 50 years ago weren't even allowed to sit on the same bus in the US or play in the same baseball league amongst many other things - you don't recover from that quickly
Poverty and low standard of living in in black dominated countries continue to feed that monster - ( you can trace some of that back to imperialism).
That group of people has endured some hard core oppression from Europeans, North Americans and from their own rebel groups today - it's a vicious cycle
