Jeezus, so this is why black people are rioting. That video made me sick.
Considering what black people face in the United States, I honestly think they should be applauded for not coming together in some sort of major nation wide, violent uprising in recent years.
I know a lot of people like to look at the Ferguson and Baltimore riots and point at them like only white people can and go "Oh see, there they go, burning stores down and wrecking things, great job guys, this is why things will never change for you".
The US is just a racist, brutal country for those people, and quite honestly I think that country is actually lucky with what they've faced in opposition to the institutionalized racism, and I predict that without major changes we may be looking at another historic American event that will involve major violence and loss of life, and will result in a major change in that country either for the better or worse.
I like a lot of Americans, and really appreciate the perspective we get from some of them on CP, but without sounding too uppity I'm so ****ing glad I'm Canadian, and I feel so bad for black people in America, it's absolutely ridiculous what they have to go through in the supposed "land of the free".

Although, after approximately one second of thought, I have to wonder if the victims of racism should be the people most responsible for ending it. What about the other side, you know? The ones in power, the people doing it? I think they might have a role in this too.

O thats right the cops/lobbyist and lawmakers in at least 14 states are trying to get laws that makes filming police a felony crime. While they continually profile and discriminate against Blacks and Latinos.

Ferguson and Baltimore started as peaceful demonstrations by residents, but absolutely no one cared. It was only after things got violent that the media paid any attention to them and the reasons why they were protesting. And that template has been around for decades, you can walk the streets peacefully to try and get your message across but in all likelyhood will just be ignored. Or you can start breaking #### which immediately draws in nationwide media coverage, it's not a surprise that people will go with the faster and more effective method
