Id put Brodie in that group as well just as important to our young core

I like Atkinson... I don't mind losing Wideman but I would hate to give up Jankowski for anyone ... Throw in Jooris and Granlund and one of the AHL defencemen

Right... Read my whole post. The 2nd half of it was that if we are going to be targeting a guy like Rychel, then go all the way and start planning for the future with the entire roster rather than try and slap a band-aid on this season.

I am aware we are still years away from contending. So why hold onto againg veta when there is a market and demand for them?

I'd be pretty happy if they landed Rychel. Exactly the kind of LW the Flames can use moving forward.

Why not? Would you prefer we get a veteran for a playoff push? Retool every year?

My mentality is that last year was gravy and a step in the right direction, but the 'rebuild' can't be considered near complete. If we can trade useful vets and turn those into building blocks for the next few years, you do it. I don't know if Rychel is that piece, but his highlights were fun to watch!

Patience in this situation is paramount. We can't keep triple shifting JG when down a goal or two. He'll be burnt out by 25. Need some more serious threats that create time and space and back up opponents D.

As much fun as last season was, it may have been more of a curse than anything. I hope BT sticks to his plan.

I would be okay moving him for a similar aged veteran top 6 or holding onto him until we are definitely out of things. My comment was pertaining to the team losing another assistant captain for futures and the impact on the team. This years group seems more fragile than last years so I worry they feel moving a vet for a prospect kills the year. Likely an overreaction from my end

I haven't seen a lot of his play but I remember his skating is sort of sluggish. Not sure I'd like that instead of a guy like Poirier who also plays gritty. Just IMO

Why instead? Can't we have both?

Please tell me you are kidding. This is a huge insult to Iginla. I watched this kid for all his years in Windsor. He's not that good I'm telling you.
