Does anyone else wonder what social and crucially important works Will's mom had to complete in West Philly? What was she, like West Philadelphia's Mother Theresa? Was she some kind of 'Mother's Mafia' Don worried for the safety of her only son? Whats the deal here?
I mean, think about it, she sends her kid to live in the ritzy hills of Bel-Air out of some sort of crazed terror for his safety while she toils it out in one of America's most dangerous neighborhoods probably making minimum wage and doling out handjobs for enough crack to make her forget the horrible squalor in which she exists while her son is causing crazy havoc in a posh prep school wearing a ridiculous multi-coloured baseball hat that would have seen him slaughtered in mere moments on the streets of the city of brotherly love.
Not to mention, WTF is the deal with Uncle Phil and Aunt Hillary? Alright, you made it. Great. Huge props. Did I mention that despite your seemingly endless sums of cash spent on crucial essentials like sending a bona fide ###### to prep school, multi-coloured beanies and wasted dance lessons for Carlton your relative is dodging bullets on a daily basis and making ends meet by giving Rocky head in unlit alleys.
You can't throw her a buck or two? You can pay her kid's way through prep school, an admittedly useless gesture as he has the IQ of the french fries I had for lunch this afternoon, not to mention the ridiculous hijinks he propagates on a weekly basis, but you cant let her live in your ridiculously posh guest house and throw her a couple bucks here and there to unclog the crapper at the Banks mansion every now and then?
I mean, with Uncle Phil around, that thing probably has to get replaced on a weekly basis, and wouldnt it just be easier to have her do it than put up with Jeffrey's holier than thou attitude?
The added benefit would be that Will is her problem once again and she can give up her days of solicitation and dodging wild gunfire.
But no, this wasnt an option, right? She had to stay in Philly. For why exactly? She had to put the finishing touches on her life's work? The hungry and poor needed her? Her John wouldn't give her passport back? She was keeping Philly's prostitution quota up? I mean, whats the reason? Is this just part of the plot that the writers decided to skip over and hope no one pointed out? Are network execs on their way to my home as we speak to silence me?
Furthermore, think of this ridiculous twist of plot-device:
Quote:
Will grows extremely close to the Banks family, even turning down his mother when she offers to let him move back in with her again in Philadelphia.

Really? He turned down the wonderful opportunity of bailing on that filth ridden and crime infested cesspool of Bel-Air to return to beautiful West Philadelphia? Well I'll be damned if that isnt the craziest damn thing I've ever heard!
WHAT?? Leave Bel-Air for West Philly? The only person dropping everything and jumping at that chocolate covered turd of an opportunity has likely been lobotomized.
Would it not make more sense, for Ms. Smith to leave Philly for a job opportunity in Bel-Air? It seems as though Uncle Phil owns that town, I'm sure he could get her a job unclogging crappers somewhere. He seems like a generous guy, he took in her sh1t for brains kid for very little return didnt he?
Hell, she could even just ply whatever trade it was that kept her in Philly in the first place. Fat people need loving too, and they know that they have to pay for it and they're rich, win/win right?
Anyways, just some points to ponder. These are the kinds of deep
thoughts that keep me up at night.
