I have hooked up with a few co-workers. Never actually asked them out at work. Always got together with them outside of work, going to pubs and such. That's your best bet.
The one time it really worked well, she invited me out to meet up with some of her friends (we actually went to high school together), and we ended up getting really really drunk. That was a fun night.

You are offending people here. They have emailed us to express concern. Remember not everyone has your sense of humor.
In short - take it down a notch.

That's why god invented Wild Turkey. It's been starting 3-somes since the days of yore....
Office romances usually don't work out unless you get married. You'll break up, hate each other, and then you'll have to do something scandalous to get her fired.
Mind you if you get married you'll end up hating her anyways, so what the hell. I say do it and who cares what happens

lol...I like that train of thinking, but at the end of the day, our team is made up of about 10 people, and my concern is more about if things went sour, would we be able to work together (I think so), but moreso, how to deal with others on the team talking about it. That's just one concern. Secondly, how should I ask her out? Picking someone up at a bar is different from asking out a coworker right? So a method would be nice to have in the pocket.

Well, if you do start dating, keep it out of work place. Just go on as usual.
Well, don't really ask her out at work. Just get the whole team to go out for drinks, and then talk to her more, and ask her out when you are at the pub/restaurant or where ever. It's more casual and probably a lot easier.

I've never dated a co-worker. I did however, begin dating my bosses youngest daughter about 5 months after I started a job. Very awkward.....during the day he was my boss and we had to act all professional toward each other, then at night, when I'd go over to his house to see my gf, it sucked a little. If I made a mistake at work, I couldn't get away from it because I'd wind up seeing my boss again after work. And if I made a mistake with my gf, I couldn't get away with it because I'd wind up seeing her father again when I got to work. Also wouldn't go over too well when he'd hear me sneak out of his house at 2am, and then call in sick the following morning.
Long story short, I ended up quitting 8 months ago. I've got a new job now, and I'm still with this girl (together for a year and a half). I guess if you're like me, and able to get out of your job and go to another that's very similar, then right on. If things got weird at work you could always change your workplace. BUT, if this job means a lot to you, and a lot to her, then personally I think you should avoid dating her. If something goes wrong it could go very wrong, and you'll be stuck seeing her every day...miserable every day.

Great post. It's true, you need to decide how important your job is to you. I personally choose love over any job, because I think those things in life are the most important. But if your just gonna do it to get your hammer wet, then maybe you should think twice about it....... and then do it anyway.

You could "end up" with some expensive tickets to the flames game and only have time to ask her to go! Feed her some heroin beer, pay the camera man $100.00 to get you on the smoochcam... then Plow her in the parking lot after the game..
She won't say a thing about it at work the next day unless she's interested...

Very weird, was thinking the same thing few weeks ago and had the plan and everything worked out. Then a few days before found out she had a kid and now I am reconsidering - not off the table just adds a serious complication to something already complicated.

I've been dating a co-worker for the last six months or so. So far, so good. We try to keep our personal life as seperate from work as possible though, we don't act "coupley" at work, even though people know we're together, because really, its work and its necessary to maintain at least some level of professionalism. People are always gonna talk about it, office folk love to gossip, but just try not to give them much to work with.

The beer at the dome is the great equalizer... I could run from the dome to High River in January, wearing nothing but a German marble sack after half dozen of thoes things

only if it is asking her out for a NSA type relationship.
I've done it in the past but there was lots of booze involved, think Stampede and beer league mixed baseball. Also it was in a big company.
I wouldn't do it nowadays though, unless you are both very mature and can control your emotions, especially if it doesn't work out.
