With the caveat that I laugh at everything: Middleditch and Schwartz made me laugh until my throat hurt. Short Paul might be one of my most favourite things ever.

I personally didn't like Tiger King. Too much hype for the show and there wasn't really anything going which I didn't expect from a exotic animal zoo. Waste of time for me.

Something else about Last Dance I've noticed specifically on social media: why is MJ taking so much heat for wearing baggy clothes? Do people really think that was just his personal style? EVERYBODY wore baggy clothes like that from 1995-2005ish.. He's been really taking it on the chin on Twitter regarding that. Don't hate the player hate the game!

He was a fashion icon at the time.

I think that says more about your taste in tourist attractions than anything else.

What kind of places do you visit?

"What? No live tourist sacrifices? Yawn! I dont even get out of bed if there isnt someone in a wheelchair fighting a Hippo with nothing but a stick!"

Oh definitely. But I see him more as a product of his age in that regard. I mean he had already retired by this point and image as a style idol had passed, and check all the extra fabric at the 2003 Draft haha..those were crazy style times.

The irony of your comment is that the show's popularity is largely due to the fascination people have with the outrageous the zoo's owners. They focus mostly on three exotic zoo's. One is run by a stereotypical redneck except he's gay and marries several young men, makes assassination videos, and is in jail for conspiring to murder. One is run by a woman who's rich husband suspiciously vanished off the face of the earth. The last one is run by a guy that has a harem of wives that have their own houses in the zoo. I don't know about everyone else but these are not exactly things I would expect from an exotic zoo. Sure maybe you could expect one zoo that's run by messed up people but all of them were run by people that you would not consider anywhere near ordinary or regular people. I get why not everyone may like the show but if you expected what was going on I can only surmise you have previous experience with exotic zoo's and this is the norm?

You got me! I was looking for tourist sacrifices and someone in a wheelchair fighting a Hippo with nothing but a stick. That's my type of entertainment.

The places I visit have no similarities to the documentaries I watch so I don't know how that's relevant.

Have I have been to an exotic zoo - Yes.
Was the owner gay with multiple partners? Or was he a gangster? Had multiple wives? Killed her husband? - Not that I know of.

All the hype how it was the greatest documentary ever produced ruined it for me. My expectations were high before watching the series. All the #### they did at the zoo sure was weird and dumb but I just didn't like the documentary.

Some of you guys don't have to defend the series that hard, it wasn't my taste that's all.

Oh its far, far from that, but I just found it to be very unique.

As has been stated, it was likely originally intended to be about the state of Exotic Cats and Private Zoos in America and the people lamenting that the Cats got sort of forgotten in the midst of everything else is more less exactly the point.

Its quite rare that a documentary goes that wildly off the rails that quickly and eventually denigrated into:

"You want to know why the state of Private Exotic Animal Zoos in America is terrible? Look at these people! LOOK AT THEM!! 'Nuff said."

What....the....****? To say you didn't like it is fine. To say there was nothing going on that you didn't expect from a private zoo? WTF were you expecting from a private zoo?!

EDIT: Read your follow up posts. Yeah, it seems there's a huge divide amongst viewers of Tiger King. A) People who just watched it/people who heard it has buzz and watched it, and then B) People who watched it after it went viral

You know what? I watched it right away and loved it and thought everything was crazy. But if I had been in the second group of "This is the most amazing thing ever, you better watch it!!!!" I probably wouldn't have liked it much. Human nature, nothing more. This was a show you needed to watch before everyone said "OMG the whole world is watching this!!!!" or else it was likely ruined.

I do. I thought it was a well done mini series. I didn't have a huge understanding of it going in, so it surprised me

The Amazon one is better. A real life breakdown of the events. Although I came away from that one thinking theres a ton of Koresh sympathisers making this one.

I got so bored watching the first 2 episodes I thought I go actually watch a real breakdown of how Waco unfolded.

That was some really effed up stuff.

EDIT: Just a forewarning though, the Amazong waco doc is like a late 90s early 2000s production, so expect grade school quality production. Or a workplace training video. Come to think of it, I'm not doing a very good job of selling that version...

Now theres a bat#### crazy demographic that is, if anything, over-represented.

That guy was a truly authentic Grade 'A' Wacko.

Oh, of course not. Mistakes were made and plenty all around.

But its not like Koresh and Associates were well-adjusted law-abiding citizens or anything.

Many lessons were learned via Waco.

I liked Waco. I was in high school when it happened but didn't really pay attention at the time.

The performances were great. Michael Shannon is great in everything he does and I was surprised my Taylro Kitsch. His career took a nose dive after John Carter from Mars and Battleship.

My only complaint might be that they started the siege a little early. Another episode with some back story of the people involved might have helped.
